The smoke emitted from the chimneys of the mods made by CrazyEddie looks great and is visible from long distances.

It would be lovely to have smokestacks as these, placeable as a static objects, so the can rise from ruins and villages, especially for Normandy, but equally anything else.

Does this exist or does someone have the knowhow to make it?

fueltrucks burn/smoke a long time, you can use them :)

'controlling' the Ka50 feels like a discussion with the Autopilot and trim system about the flight direction.

My first thoughts are:

The height, location and density of the smoke are controlled in the ships lua.

GT.exhaust = {[1] = { size = 1.15 , pos = {-88 ,38.0, 0 } },

}

Can you add the lua code to a static land object and will it emit smoke in the same way ? No, that does not work, tried it.

Smoke from ships means the object has to have a ship classfile, so it can only be placed on water, the game will not let you place a ship on the land.

If you created a small almost invisible ship object with smoke it can still only be placed on water, so that wont work.

The white smoke from chimneys and power stations in game is controlled from within the game somehow, there are no lua codes for those buildings so I dont think that is where to look for an answer.

Interesting question, I suspect it can be done somehow, but I'm not able to see how.

Thanks for peaking in Crazyeddie. Seems strange that a code for smoke is limited to ship objects only. It would be awesome if it was possible like you say, an invisble land object that emits smoke.

The smoke from ships looks a lot better than the smoke from wreckage.

A few of those smoke stacks around the Normandy countryside would work wonders for immersion:)
