I was playing off-line some fights with simple, real-life Mig-29A.

Not only the Mig-29A in Lockon has a brilliant 3D-model and very fine skins, it is really a jet like I want my car: no-nonsense, athletic, no overweight and sophistication. Mig-29A vs. Mig-29A fights are really fast-paced action.

Makes me dream about a Lockon "light" version, with no R-77, no fatty froggy, no Amraam let alone flying coffee mills but just cunning and bold mach 1+ courage!

I'm totally for the F-16C <> Mig-29SMT sequel, but what about some hardcore Mig-29A versus F-16A block 10 something?

Does anyone else feels the need? :D

No. Dogfight gets boring too fast for me.

I want sophisticated avionics systems, a/a-a/g-radar, data-link, vast array of ammunitions, LGBs, etc.

A lite idea would be fun if it was optimized only to load a certain airplane, weapons and its textures, and the surrounding terrain - it'd load faster and have much less traffic to worry about.

Still, would I play it? No. After having experienced a Frogfoot-vs-Frogfoot duel, no.

I do like the idea... personally, offline I like to fly MiG-29A not against multiple targets like 4x F-15C's ;) but take it in GAI or Intercept mission against 1 or 2 enemy aircraft. It is lot more challenging with SAR missiles only against multiple targets.

PC specs:

Windows 11 Home | Asus TUF Gaming B850-Plus WiFi | AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D + LC 360 AIO | MSI RTX 5090 LC 360 AIO | 55" Samsung Odyssey Gen 2 | 64GB PC5-48000 DDR5 | 1TB M2 SSD for OS | 2TB M2 SSD for DCS | NZXT C1000 Gold ATX 3.1 1000W | TM Cougar Throttle, Floor Mounted MongoosT-50 Grip on TM Cougar board, MFG Crosswind, Track IR

Early 80s sim, that is what I have been dreaming for. A bit of BVR fights, but only for specialist planes and with limited effective SARH missiles. And lots of close in dogfights, with a couple of rear-aspect heaters thrown in ( if we go back till 1980 we even have rear-heaters only ).

Couple this with a plausible scenario and strong blue and red forces, and classic warplanes many of us have grown up with and you get the perfect timeframe.

Quite frankly I don't know why not more sims represent that "golden age of air war", for wich most of our current combat aircraft were designed for.

There will be such a SIM. ED's "IStribitily" Project, wich will feature F-16 VS Mig-29 fliables. They will be able to carry the AMRAAM and the R77 but I guess you can rule these weapons out in a mission edited by you. ;)
