[RESOLVED]1.5.7 - Crash in multiplayer when using sling loads

EDIT: It is the server hosting that seems to freeze/crash

 

Running 1.5.7 release and connected to a server with several people on it

 

Everyone is flying about and having fun, use F10 map view and everyone is moving about on map as expected

 

Note: Length of rope is now at max value of 30m due to shorter ones

snapping on 1.5.7 release .....

Get into MI-8 spool up select a cargo to pick up and go and pick up cargo

 

Carefully lift off and begin flying to drop point

About 30 seconds later do an F2 view to check cargo and all is well

Then hit F10 to check my course / position

Notice that all planes on map are now stationary

and I am still connected to server, try some chat but no one responds

all chat messages from other players have stopped

it appears that picking up cargo causes a weird server condition where

the server has stopped but we are still connected somehow

 

Checked server and the server GUI is frozen (greyed out)

 

No choice but to restart server

 

Can anyone else confirm this please ?

Haven't experienced that -particular- thing, but sling loading cargo has crashed our server at the 355th every time we've tried since 1.5.7 as well. We are lousy with mods, so I'm not sure how much good our logs would do, but I'll try to remember to post them when I'm next at my PC if that would be helpful.

This is easily repeatable.

 

Get a MP server running, and have 1 player pick up a sling load and then crash the helo with it still attached.

Yep it is that simple in 1.5.7 :-(

1. First run took off with cargo attached in mi-8 and deliberatly crashed , server crapped itself at same time

 

2. Second run , crashed once , no effect , got new mi-8 , grabbed another cargo (oil tank) then crashed into ground = server died

Hello I can Confirm this bug , we have Crash to desk every time a client pick up a cargo .

We use the default rope length, but the load appears very close to the heli and the server crash a few seconds after pick up .

Having not flown cargo duty for a short while, I have also just noticed the above bugs in MP. Another 159th Hip flyer reported rope-breaks this last weekend and having tested this out myself, also had the same -followed by a system crash very-soon after.

 

If any track is required I can provide one.

Yeah I have been re-watching every season of scrubs over the last few months

 

I forgot how amazingly funny/sad this show was (on season 7 now)

 

Back on topic, I hope this sling load issue gets fixed next 1.5 version

..... which should be soon? , its been borked for a month now

Fingers crossed we get a new 1.5 version this week (its been 4 weeks broken)

 

Sling load crash fix + AI spawned aircraft flying a proper speeds would be a great start

Looks like Update 1 solves Sling Loads and Dumb AI Gunners. Haven't tested it yet.

we have not had a patch for it yet in 2.1 so how can it be fixed

I think this might be back again. after some tests today with 1.5.8.12823

 

Server crashed straight after someone in a MI-8 destroyed cargo by dragging it

 

then I restarted server

I Picked up a cargo in MI-8 .... flew for a bit at altitude 200m, dropped cargo , got cargo damaged message .... then server crashed again
