dburne Posted August 12, 2017 Posted August 12, 2017 Hey gang, Ok so dumb question of the day here. I would like to begin flying this campaign, but am a little confused at how to go about this. From reading the campaign notes obviously there are waypoints set that one can follow, although they do not have to. But generally there is a flight path that should take one at least close to the area that has been assigned whether it be targets or another air base. I have taken off in Mission 1, but can't seem to come to grips with how one does this in the Spitfire. I pull up the F10 Map view, but really do not see any clues there either - at least that I would recognize. I am sure this is something very basic that I am missing, but if some kind soul could point me in the right direction I would sure be grateful! I would really like to truly begin flying this campaign and just need a little hand holding I guess to get started. razo+r Posted August 12, 2017 Posted August 12, 2017 the waypoints are on your kneeboard. You can then mark your position on it and that way you can see where you are and where you have to fly. If you don't want to use the kneeboard, check the briefing if any description is there.

ED Team Wags Posted August 12, 2017 ED Team Posted August 12, 2017 We are also investigating the addition of a couple more options to assist with navigation, particularly for the warbirds: 1- Player flight plan overlay on the F10 map. 2- Constantly updated player position icon on the knee board map. bart Posted August 12, 2017 Posted August 12, 2017 (edited) This is a good question by dburne. I've just finished the first mission in the campaign, and what I did was to map the kneeboard on/off option to my Warthog stick. Then mapped the page up/down for the kneeboard pages to a different switch I had spare on the stick, it then becomes very easy to look at the map quickly and flick to different pages whilst in VR. The kneeboard pages are excellent for detail on the route, they even give you the timings of the different legs, and I used this a lot whilst flying. Use large landmarks for navigation and positional awareness, particularly large woods as they stand out from a distance, looking at the kneeboard map and identifying the shape of the wood against the one on the map I found it easy to work out where I was in relation to it (bit like real world VFR nav!) Rivers are a good one as is large towns. I didn't use the F10 map at all during the mission. What an awesome campaign though, brilliant briefing material, detail is fantastic and really sets the scene for the sortie ahead. Had to use the F10 radio option prior to taxi though to get decent performance on my rig, but a great idea to include this option, well done fellas. Yeah that is what I did as well, works quite well - finally I can navigate! I do like what Wags mentioned they were looking into and hope maybe that can come to fruition. I just finished the second mission and did not have much success in that one, I think my timing on arrival may have been a little off for finding the red smoke markers. I saw the first one but by the time I got up closer to it , it was gone and did not see a target around where it was. Never found the second one. Since it was just the second mission I may restart the campaign anyway and give another go. Thanks Hi, is this still a possibility? Even a small adjustable HUD that leads you to waypoints would be nice. I understand this wouldn't be real but I'm here for a fun time. Get me to the action.
