I just bought a new PC, with Ryzen 1700x, mb Asrock z370 Killer SLI, 32 GB ram (patriot - 2400), SSD WD 240 gb, HDD 1TB (where game is installed), and EVGA gtx 1080 FTW ACX3.0 (8GB ram)

I am wondering if is normal to have under 30 FPS (average 24-25) in DCS 1.5 , with all settings maxed out, in 1080P, or I have issues with drivers/config.

Thank you

Same CPU here, and it's smooth as it can be maxed out. Have you updated the BIOS?

Make sure SATA and PCI-E lanes are set to 3 and disable game DVR in windows.

You can also disable telemetry of both windows 10 and NVIDIA drivers. I use SPYBOT.

Move DCS over to the SSD as well. This is almost a requirement for best experience these days.

Good luck!

Hi Pilotasso...i am about to pull the trigger on an offer build that i received with Ryzen 1700x gtx 1080ti and 16gb ddr4 3200MHz Ram....can you expand more on performance in both DCS 1.5 and 2..and if you have info also on other sims?

What about VR?Do you use it? Thanks

this is my testing with DCS 2 compared to my old rig. This is with early BIOS way back in April. I have crancked up the CPU to 3.9 and memory to 3200 since (was 3.85 with 2933 respectively plus some more finetuning). Please note that I have tested the 2 CPU's at start with the same GFX (a GTX 970) and then I also measured the difference with the introduction of a 1080Ti in the R7.

The numbers dont make justice how much the experience has improved with the R7+1080Ti. The variation in FPS was much lower while always remaining well above 60 FPS versus the choppy performance I had before (the tests with the 2500K must have had many frames dropped). but the other side of the coin is that the game is far more dependent on the GFX side now. You dont need an R7 if DCS is your main goal. You can go I7 7700 or R5 1600 for basically very similar experience, and the later will be far cheaper than the R7 or the I7. I got an 8 core for star citizen and future proofing.

I have not joined the VR bandwagon. Im still recovering from a tight budgetary situation. ;)

Thank you for your insight, verry helpfull.

I see now that i have a memory problem on my pc. My mainboard is ASROCK x370 killer sli, and memory patriot (2400), but i can not make it run at 2400, is seen in bios at 2133 and stays this way. I`ll probably upgrate to 1080 Ti :)

If possible, take that RAM back and exchange it for some 2600-3200MHz modules. That will help a lot. 2nd is, you will regret putting DSC on a HDD, BIG failure !..--> put it on your SSD or get a 2nd SSD if you need to asap. DCS really needs a SSD, dozens of threads here proof this.

...and follow Pilotasso's advice and update all your drivers 360° everywhere

On ryzen is not possible above 2400 yet :)

Depends on memory and motherboard. I have seen some stable overclocks around 3100. Very manufacturer dependent. Good quality memory is a must with Ryzen.

AMD - Ryzen 7 1700X 3.4GHz 8-Core

Corsair - H115i 104.7 CFM Liquid CPU Cooler

ASRock - Fatal1ty X370 Professional Gaming ATX AM4

G.Skill - Flare X Series 16GB DDR4-3200

Samsung - 960 EVO 500GB M.2-2280 Drive

Cooler Master - Storm Stryker Full Tower Case

Corsair - 850W 80+ Gold ATX Power Supply

Microsoft - Windows 10 Pro

G.Skill - Ripjaws KM780 MX

HP - 120GB 3.5" Solid State Drive

(2 x) Asus - GeForce GTX 980 Ti 6GB

And Mirror on&off has an obvious FPS difference especially when you on the ground or low attitude flying.

Anyone is using them anyway ? Mirrors are FPS killers!

Not true, I run 2600er Corsair vengeance with my 1600X.

Official support is 2666 on this platform, though 3200 can be reached easily on B350 and X370 boards as long as the memory kits are in the qualified vendor list. There are others but you have to choose carefully, namely SAMSUNG B die kits. They usually are the lowest latency kits in their clock speed category. For 3200Mhz that would be any CAS14 kits which are the lowest for that speed.
