Hi guys,

As the title says, I am unable to open the mission page from the main page menu since updating to 1.5.7.10872. When try to open the mission page, I get a loading screen and nothing from that point on. The only way I can get out is to shut DCS down using the Task Manager.

I have never had this problem since updating to the latest version. I have no mods at all, or even any user created skins. Totally vanilla install.

Hope someone can steer me in the right direction.

It's a reoccurring problem ATM for a few people, it's probably this:-

The fix

Deleting the "settings.lua" file from the "...\Saved Games\DCS\MissionEditor" folder has worked in the past for a similar 1.5 "mission" loading problem.

Perhaps backup the file just in case - DCS will create a new one and you'll need to set your graphics options, etc again.

Otherwise move the Saved Games\DCS folder and let dcs create a new one. If loading missions works as normal, you should be able to copy your control profiles, etc. back and/or use a process of elimination to find the offending file.

Explanation: When I switched from 1.5.7 to 1.5.6 it introduced duplicate entries with different capitalisations in "settings.lua", this appears to break parsing ?

Deleting settings.lua allows DCS to build a clean file without the error(s).

Hi again,

Solved the problem after finding some advice from Bignewy in another thread. Deleting the Settings.lua file from the Mission Editor folder in Saved Games has fixed this issue. Thanks.

Edit: Just noticed your reply Ramsay. Thanks very much.

I don't have a saved games folder and I get this problem.

If you didn't have this folder, that would mean you don't have the game installed at all :D. It might be hidden if your Windows is too anal about admin rights, but it's there for sure.

It's on the system drive: C:\Users\[your user name]\Save Games\DCS[...] etc.

Remember this location, as you'll visit it often while troubleshooting various DCS issues.
