3Sqn_Sven Posted January 12, 2007 Posted January 12, 2007 Hey guys Cobra was trying to run a server, he enabled 10308 and disabled his firewalls but when people join the server once they hit fly they only ever see the "waiting for server" and about a minute later they get disconnected. Anyone know what the problem is? 3Sqn - Largest distributor of Flanker, Fulcrum and Frogfoot parts in the Black Sea Region
Ironhand Posted January 12, 2007 Posted January 12, 2007 Is he using the same version of the sim as everyone else? Is a router involved? Pilotasso Posted January 12, 2007 Posted January 12, 2007 If the version was different people couldnt even access the session let alone arrive at the "waiting for server" screen .
4c Hajduk Veljko Posted January 12, 2007 Posted January 12, 2007 He needs to open both TCP and UDP ports on 10308. Kindred Posted January 12, 2007 Posted January 12, 2007 If he is using a router, he would need to forward the port to the host PC... http://portforward.com/english/applications/port_forwarding/Lock_On/Lock_Onindex.htm Cheers 1
WhiskeyRomeo Posted January 13, 2007 Posted January 13, 2007 when people join the server once they hit fly they only ever see the "waiting for server"Confirm they can see can see the mission briefing details and on the Coalition screen they can pick an aircaft? Can they also text chat (Cntrl+M) to each other on the Coalition screen? If they can do that it means the 10308 port forwarding is working OK for TCP packets. As =4c= Hajduk Veljko says both TCP and UDP packets need port forwarding. If your TCP packets are getting through for briefing details, Coalition joining and text chat but the server won't run that likely means the UDP packets arent being forwarded.
Force_Feedback Posted January 13, 2007 Posted January 13, 2007 Also, besides setting the NAt, you also may have to disable the router's firewall, and open ports in any software based firewall Creedence Clearwater Revival:worthy:
4c Hajduk Veljko Posted January 13, 2007 Posted January 13, 2007 Also, besides setting the NAt, you also may have to disable the router's firewall, and open ports in any software based firewall You do not have to disable firewall on your router. I would recommend you never disable your router firewall for any reason what so ever.
