Does anyone know if DK2 support will come to an end with this update?

Great! means Ive got to go out and buy some touch controllers if I want to use this as I got the rift before they were bundled with it.

Go for it, they are so worth it.

Well today is supposedly the big day, we'll see. I am not sure I will enroll in the beta to get it right away, may wait to see reports.

Also don't know if this new beta will be a gradual rollout or if those electing for the beta will all get it right away when it does become available.

I'm downloading the update right now, so I'll soon see what impact it has.

Did not realize it was available yet, have not seen anything over on Oculus.

You have to sign up for open testing to download it - via settings. It appears to have gone live, but until the download finishes I won't know if it is 2.0 or not.

Ok thanks, keep us posted!

I submitted a link over the weekend (a few posts up) saying it would be out Dec 6th, looks like they delivered

It's 2.0, people on /r/oculus have reported having it downloaded within the last hour or so.

Really liking what I am seeing! Move things around by hand with Touch, bring desktop monitors into VR easily....

Now I need to do some deep digging lol.

Sounds similar to the current SteamVR Beta: using Touch to teleport around, customize furniture, hang giant pictures on the walls (DCS screenshots & video game girlfriends in bikinis..with weapons...in my case. Yes, odd combo.). It basically lets you create a virtual man cave your wife doesn't know about. Fun stuff.

DCS is launching fine from within Dash.

If you have a chance to "pin" a YouTube video up in a small window while flying in DCS, please let me know how that goes.

The other stuff looks cool and all, but functionally that is what I am most interested in as I am trying to learn jets via watching videos, etc.

I am not sure that can be done, when the game launched the environment started closing out and Oculus Home minimized - I assume to give all resources to the game maybe.

After exiting the game, the environment slowly came back in to Dash and Home.

I need to dig deeper into how this all works though.

Have not had a chance to test performance yet, only how the game launched from within Oculus Home/ Dash.

Based on what I am seeing, it seems to close out the environment and minimize Oculus, so I would not think there would be a hit - probably tomorrow before I would get a chance to thoroughly test this out.

Hmm, a guy over on /r/oculus said this which was making me think otherwise...

Being able to grab windows off your desktop and drag them in to your VR space is very cool and feels intuitive. You can then pin them to your running app so that they stay floating in VR space in-game or can leave them hidden so that they only reappear when you press the Oculus button on your right Touch controller.

I did run in to some wonkiness on interacting with my desktop. Every time I tried to grab a chrome window and bring it in to VR space, ASW would kick in and performance would plummet. A new desktop mirror would spawn instead of Chrome. But, I was able to grab Firefox and a Pidgin chat window in to VR, pin them to either side of me, and then play Robo Recall and Space Pirate Trainer no problem.

You can then spawn a keyboard on screen that you can either laser-point at or hunt and peck on with your virtual index fingers.

That may be, I am still in the learning stages.

I did just manage to open the Dash environment, with DCS running, by pressing the Oculus button. Can browse my desktop, but it won't let me open another app says already a VR app running. Selecting the DCS running app put me right back into DCS Hangar.

But again, I am still in the early learning stages here...

I would say there a lot of possibilities I have yet to come across - slow learner and all lol.

I can easily though get to my desktop and back without ever removing the headset.

Not to be overly focused, but are the dreadful disembodied gloves still strewn all over the aircraft nose following use of the touch controllers?
