noob questions - campaigns etc

i have v1.01 of lomac.

im playing the su27 campaign and having no success with mission 4. even when ive shot down the turkish f16's and f5's with no loss of russian aircraft, after landing the mission is failed? is it to do with the su24's im escorting targeting the SAMs instead of their primary objective which is a building of somesort i think?

what am i doing wrong? or is it some glitch with the mission?

 

 

also, there is no russian MiG29 campaign. is there one available in a downloadable update? i'd love to fly the 29 in a campaign..

 

and a question regarding online play. i have dial-up and never played anything online. what is involved? can i even play online with dial-up only?

Can't really help out with the campaign, but the very least thing you should do is patch your game to 1.02. :P

Sorry I can't help you with the campaigns either because I got frustrated with them for the same reason that you posted.

 

As for online play, don't have second thoughts and just try it out! Make sure to upgrade to 1.02 and start logging in into the Ubi.com software (on Hyperlobby there are mostly 1.12a games).

 

These days there seem to be lots of new players on Ubi, maybe partly due to LockOn having been sold in a German computer game magazine recently. This means that a) you'll have plenty of people to play with and b) many of them will also be relatively new to the sim and you'll actually be able to get some kills. ;)

 

Compared to 1.12a the old version of LockOn seems to crash pretty often during online play (at least for me) though, so don't get the wrong impression and throw it away. If you find yourself having fun, invest the ~20 Euros and get Flaming Cliffs. It's more than worth it.

 

 

EDIT:

One more thing, some people on Ubi tend to be b***holes. The atmosphere in the 1.12a games on Hyperlobby is generally much more pleasant, people are actually friendly with each other instead of the "i pwn u n00b" counterstrike-like mentality on Ubi. So consider that as well before getting frustrated with this sim!

My computer is pretty weak, I have to run LockOn on the absolute lowest settings to make it playable but I don't notice any difference in performance between the old LockOn and the new one with the Flaming Cliffs expansion. No worries! :D

Yes. That's exactly the reason. The mission objective is the destruction of a building about 250km away from the Su-24s' attack waypoint. If that building is not destroyed, your mission is considered a failure. There is a flight of Su-30s also tasked with its destruction.

 

As far as playing online is concerned, give it a try. You may find, however, that your dialup connection is causing problems either for you or other players in the form of lag.
