LeCuvier Posted December 19, 2017 Posted December 19, 2017 Last weekend my stable release install updated from 1.5.7 to 1.5.8. This surprised me as I had seen no announcement to that effect. I was even more surprised when today I checked version numbers and found that both now run under version 1.5.8.12667. From what I remember about software version control this means that both installs now run the same software version. Is that because the Open Beta version was considered good enough to become the stable release without any changes? And will the Open Beta see yet another new version before 1.5 becomes unsupported legacy? If not, we might just as well remove it from our disks. @ED: Please tell us what's going on! grunf Posted December 19, 2017 Posted December 19, 2017 It's not unusual, release often catches up with the beta, resulting with both being identical. Until the next patch... :D
QuiGon Posted December 19, 2017 Posted December 19, 2017 Indeed, that's how it's been for a a couple of years now. A beta patch arrives and about 1 or 2 weeks the the stable version gets updated too and when both are on the same version (as they are now), they are compatible in multiplayer as well. WolfK33 Posted December 19, 2017 Posted December 19, 2017 (edited) I´ve been confused by that as well, especially as there have been changes to the Harrier that aren´t in the open beta as far as I know. So they´re not identical but have the same version number, how can that be ? edit: disregard, seems I somehow missed the Hotfix 2, however that might´ve happened... So they´re not identical but have the same version number, how can that be ? Open Beta and Stable Release branch are currently on the exact same version: https://updates.digitalcombatsimulator.com/ There has been a hotfix for the 1.5.8 last friday which has also been pushed to the Stable Release version as well: Update 2017-12-15 DCS 1.5.8.12667 Hotfix 2 Ready for public Intel i7-12700K @ 8x5GHz+4x3.8GHz + 32 GB DDR5 RAM + Nvidia Geforce RTX 2080 (8 GB VRAM) + M.2 SSD + Windows 10 64Bit DCS Panavia Tornado (IDS) really needs to be a thing!
