MustanGrande Posted December 22, 2017 Posted December 22, 2017 I've recently begun fooling about with external tanks. However, they seem to have a bad tendency of spiraling the Harrier uncontrollably towards the ground at low speeds. Particularly after a long flight. The tendency is always a roll to the left that is trimmable at speed, but which quickly becomes impossible to correct as speed decreases. Full right stick and full right trim are not enough to counteract the condition. The only new variable in my loadout being the tanks, I'm assuming that I'm drawing from the right, but not the left. Is there some sort of selector/pump/crossfeed that I'm most likely missing? Is it a bug? Am I just crazy? Any help at all would be greatly appreciated.
Rlaxoxo Posted December 22, 2017 Posted December 22, 2017 That would explain why i keep rolling to the left after flying for a while ... I thought my stick was going crazy [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Youtube Reddit
Cytt0rak Posted December 22, 2017 Posted December 22, 2017 This only happened to me once when I got hit. Maybe there is a problem that instantly removes all fuel from the external tanks? I couldn't counter with full trim. Plane looked fine +good power from engine aswell.
atonium83 Posted December 22, 2017 Posted December 22, 2017 I've got the same problem but with all load out and not only fuel tank....; For example when I carry 4 mav's, I shoot one of them, then my plane bank to the left/ right, and still out of control. Full stick and trim in the opposite direction doesn't change anything.
Robert31178 Posted December 22, 2017 Posted December 22, 2017 My squadron mates that have been flying the module since release have said It's an absolute bear with asymmetrical drops, and that they have been dropping bombs in pairs because it tends to go nuts like the F-5, only worse. No one has mentioned anything related to fuel usage yet, and I personally have not messed with any external loads yet so I can only pass along my mates' warnings to me when I first started flying her.
Esac_mirmidon Posted December 22, 2017 Posted December 22, 2017 The real Harrier manual advice the pilot about asymetric load and the heavy effect on handling characteristics, and also recommends droping weapons in pairs to avoid asymetric reaction. I tried both inner and outer external tanks (at different times, just two tanks at a time)) and they seem to feed symmetrically. I used version 1.5.8.12823.414 (update today) To whom it may concern, I am an idiot, unfortunately for the world, I have a internet connection and a fondness for beer....apologies for that. Thank you for you patience. Many people don't want the truth, they want constant reassurance that whatever misconception/fallacies they believe in are true..
