tempemonkey Posted December 23, 2017 Posted December 23, 2017 I have pretty much mastered the a10c and am now TRYING to move on to the Mig 21.... Any ideas where the mig 21 discussion thread by leatherneck simulations is??? Anyone??? Anyone??? I have noticed that with the mig 21 flare and chaff edit buttons are greyed out in the mission editor even with the appropriate pods in place.... just wondering how to add or subtract chaff and flare... Other question is, are snap views available for the mig 21? I notice in the "snapViewsDefault" .lua file there are snap views for various aircraft but not the mig 21... BTW, I notice the same issues on both the Alpha and Beta versions of DCS world...

Lixma 06 Posted December 23, 2017 Posted December 23, 2017 Other question is, are snap views available for the mig 21? I notice in the "snapViewsDefault" .lua file there are snap views for various aircraft but not the mig 21... First make sure you have 'User Snap-View Saving' enabled in the options screen. You need to be using 'SnapViews.lua' and not 'SnapViewsDefault.lua' - both are found in the Users\******\Saved Games\DCS\Config\View\ folder. Now if I remember correctly I had a similar problem but I've forgotten how I fixed it - I think I just copied another aircraft's view code, changed the name, and tweaked the values. If you want to try it just paste this into your SnapViews.lua and edit it to your taste. SnapViews["MiG-21Bis"] = { [1] = {-- player slot 1 [1] = {--LWin + Num0 : Snap View 0 viewAngle = 85.000000,--FOV hAngle = 0.000000, vAngle = 65.000000, x_trans = 0.000000, y_trans = 0.015000, z_trans = 0.000000, rollAngle = 0.000000, }, [2] = {--LWin + Num1 : Snap View 1 viewAngle = 85.000000,--FOV hAngle = 120.000000, vAngle = -4.000000, x_trans = 0.000000, y_trans = 0.015000, z_trans = 0.000000, rollAngle = 0.000000, }, [3] = {--LWin + Num2 : Snap View 2 viewAngle = 50.000000,--FOV hAngle = 0.000000, vAngle = -35.000000, x_trans = 0.000000, y_trans = 0.015000, z_trans = 0.000000, rollAngle = 0.000000, }, [4] = {--LWin + Num3 : Snap View 3 viewAngle = 85.000000,--FOV hAngle = -120.000000, vAngle = -4.000000, x_trans = 0.000000, y_trans = 0.015000, z_trans = 0.000000, rollAngle = 0.000000, }, [5] = {--LWin + Num4 : Snap View 4 viewAngle = 85.000000,--FOV hAngle = 80.000000, vAngle = -4.000000, x_trans = 0.000000, y_trans = 0.015000, z_trans = 0.000000, rollAngle = 0.000000, }, [6] = {--LWin + Num5 : Snap View 5 viewAngle = 90.000000,--FOV hAngle = 0.000000, vAngle = -8.000000, x_trans = 0.000000, y_trans = 0.015000, z_trans = 0.000000, rollAngle = 0.000000, }, [7] = {--LWin + Num6 : Snap View 6 viewAngle = 85.000000,--FOV hAngle = -80.000000, vAngle = -4.000000, x_trans = 0.000000, y_trans = 0.015000, z_trans = 0.000000, rollAngle = 0.000000, }, [8] = {--LWin + Num7 : Snap View 7 viewAngle = 85.000000,--FOV hAngle = 45.000000, vAngle = 25.000000, x_trans = 0.000000, y_trans = 0.015000, z_trans = 0.000000, rollAngle = 0.000000, }, [9] = {--LWin + Num8 : Snap View 8 viewAngle = 85.000000,--FOV hAngle = 0.000000, vAngle = 45.000000, x_trans = 0.000000, y_trans = 0.015000, z_trans = 0.000000, rollAngle = 0.000000, }, [10] = {--LWin + Num9 : Snap View 9 viewAngle = 85.000000,--FOV hAngle = -45.000000, vAngle = 25.000000, x_trans = 0.000000, y_trans = 0.015000, z_trans = 0.000000, rollAngle = 0.000000, }, [11] = {--look at left mirror viewAngle = 85.000000,--FOV hAngle = 0.000000, vAngle = -8.000000, x_trans = 0.000000, y_trans = 0.015000, z_trans = 0.000000, rollAngle = 0.000000, }, [12] = {--look at right mirror viewAngle = 85.000000,--FOV hAngle = 0.000000, vAngle = -8.000000, x_trans = 0.000000, y_trans = 0.015000, z_trans = 0.000000, rollAngle = 0.000000, }, [13] = {--default view viewAngle = 77.000000,--FOV hAngle = -0.521484, vAngle = -1.166505, x_trans = -0.001373, y_trans = 0.015000, z_trans = -0.000481, rollAngle = 0.000000, }, }, }
tempemonkey Posted December 24, 2017 Author Posted December 24, 2017 See under "magnitude LLC" subforum. This is the first time I have seen the name "magnitude" associated with mig 21... I have seen "leatherneck simulations" though...
tempemonkey Posted December 24, 2017 Author Posted December 24, 2017 Thanks, I will try that fix for the quickview

For example where does it say magnitude? http://leatherneck-sim.com/dcs-mig-21biss/
The LT Posted December 24, 2017 Posted December 24, 2017 https://forums.eagle.ru/forumdisplay.php?f=324 Dude, seriously, how about you try helping yourself instead of expressing doubt. This company has changed names a few times and now it is "Magnitude 3 LLC". Whether it's a trademark or a registered company name is, frankly, largely irrelevant. Also, it says "Copyright 2014-2017 | MAGNITUDE 3 LLC | All Rights Reserved" right at the bottom of their website. You asked where the Fishbed forum was. You were directed towards it. You're welcome. lazduc Posted December 24, 2017 Posted December 24, 2017 Hey guys...lighten up..unless you spend days reading the numerous inapt posts here you may miss the renaming/re-banding/forever changing, monotonous, condescending referrals to posts buried in more reply's that continuously obfuscate the OP's original questions and help in finding truly relevant information. Which usually takes less time answering than you taking on the role of moderator.
tempemonkey Posted December 26, 2017 Author Posted December 26, 2017 First make sure you have 'User Snap-View Saving' enabled in the options screen. You need to be using 'SnapViews.lua' and not 'SnapViewsDefault.lua' - both are found in the Users\******\Saved Games\DCS\Config\View\ folder. Now if I remember correctly I had a similar problem but I've forgotten how I fixed it - I think I just copied another aircraft's view code, changed the name, and tweaked the values. If you want to try it just paste this into your SnapViews.lua and edit it to your taste. I created the .lua file. My saved games did not have a "view" folder so I created one and placed the "snapviews" (.lua) file in there. I even dropped one in the main directory under DCSWorld/Config/View... Got no results... I am familiar with this type of tweak as I have used .lua files a couple years ago to adjust multi-monitors... Any other advice?
Lixma 06 Posted December 26, 2017 Posted December 26, 2017 I'm only going from on what you've written but double-check you have /*yourname*/Saved Games/DCS/Config/View on your HD. If you're running DCS (and you haven't installed it elsewhere) it must be there - the config folder also holds all your input binds. Mine looks like this...

tempemonkey Posted December 26, 2017 Author Posted December 26, 2017 My directory has literally everything you have there except the "view" folder which I added and then placed the .lua file inside that. I copied and pasted the information you gave earlier... when I am in game, I press left windows button and 1-9 and nothing happens... I double checked to make sure the snap view is enabled in the options...
tempemonkey Posted December 26, 2017 Author Posted December 26, 2017 I found some help from this youtube video although it is a bit buggy with Oculus and a button box it still works well...
Lixma 06 Posted December 26, 2017 Posted December 26, 2017 I don't know if you're using a different OS or maybe the Steam version of DCS which 'might' have a different file structure, but if you can save snap-views as shown in that video then they're obviously being saved somewhere on your PC. I'd run a search for them.
