cichlidfan Posted December 29, 2017 Posted December 29, 2017 (edited) Drag n drop will work, however, you will have to modify any desktop and Startmenu shortcuts to point at the new locations. If DL speeds are not an issue, I would do a new install of everything onto the new drive, which makes sure that the registry and shortcuts point to the correct location. No deactivation should be needed. EDIT: How did you burn through nine deactivations? I haven't done that in eight years. I may add, if you use more than 1 version of DCS and dont like the idea of 3 shortcuts to start, 3 shortcuts to update and etc etc etc... grab SkateZilla's DCS Updater Tool and forget about those links, its all in one + the VR option. javelina1 Posted December 29, 2017 Posted December 29, 2017 Yep, drag and drop. some edits of the shortcuts too. I now have 3x SSD's (and 1 large HDD) on my gaming rig. I like having an SSD for the O/S and standard apps stuff. 1 SSD for DCS, and 1 SSD for all of other VR related games. The large HDD is used for all the other games and "stuff". :-) MSI MAG Z790 Carbon, i9-13900k, NH-D15 cooler, 64 GB CL40 6000mhz RAM, MSI RTX4090, Yamaha 5.1 A/V Receiver, 4x 2TB Samsung 980 Pro NVMe, 1x 2TB Samsung 870 EVO SSD, Win 11 Pro, TM Warthog, Virpil WarBRD, MFG Crosswinds, 43" Samsung 4K TV, 21.5 Acer VT touchscreen, TrackIR, Varjo Aero, Wheel Stand Pro Super Warthog, Phanteks Enthoo Pro2 Full Tower Case, Seasonic GX-1200 ATX3 PSU, PointCTRL, Buttkicker 2, K-51 Helicopter Collective Control
RePhil Posted December 29, 2017 Author Posted December 29, 2017 (edited) I have other software that when you are reinstalling it to fix problems you deactivate it first never had issues with the number of times. Not being a computer type I have always found it easier to just delete and reinstall things. Was not till I got this new computer did I find there was a limit and that as long as it was installed on same computer it did not need to be deactivated. Since you guys saying drop works will wait till the 2.5 comes out then they are all in one place before I move it over Edited December 29, 2017 by RePhil bad spelling [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Window 10, i9-9900,2080TI, 32GB ram Puma Pro Flight Trainer, 2 x 1TB WB SSD NVMe HP Reverb

I see, and understand. Yes, DCS is fairly unique in that regard. Since you guys saying drop works will wait till the 2.5 comes out then they are all in one place before I move it over Huh. I guess I better read the FAQ again. I always deactivated before installing new MBs etc. I never understood why there was a limit on deactivation. Also, even if you run completely out, you can still do one install per month. hsb HW Spec in Spoiler --- i7-10700K Direct-To-Die/OC'ed to 5.1GHz, MSI Z490 MB, 32GB DDR4 3200MHz, EVGA 2080 Ti FTW3, NVMe+SSD, Win 10 x64 Pro, MFG, Warthog, TM MFDs, Komodo Huey set, Rverbe G1

BitMaster Posted December 30, 2017 Posted December 30, 2017 From what we could read from Wags lately, ED is trying with serious effort to get away from StarForce Copyprotection system. It is a pain ! The more you work with your hardware the sooner you reach those limits given. It's a good thing to move on to another solution. It could hardly be worse than this.
