ThorBrasil Posted January 16, 2018 Posted January 16, 2018 Can you add this resolution scaling technology to DCS? This would solve the Anti-Aliasing problem in DCS World. This technology is present and almost every game. Is it possible to add to DCS? Image of Battlefield 1 graphics options. 1 |Motherboard|: Asus TUF Gaming X570-PLUS, |WaterCooler|: Corsair H115i Pro, |CPU|: AMD Ryzen 7 3800X, |RAM|: Corsair Vengeance LPX 32GB 3200MHz DDR4, |SSD|: Kingston A2000 500GB M.2 NVMe, |SSD|: Kingston 2.5´ 480GB UV400 SATA III, |SSHD|: Seagate Híbrido 2TB 7200RPM SATA III, |GPU|: MSI Gaming 980Ti, |Monitor|: LG UltraWide 34UM68, |Joystick 1|: Thrustmaster Hotas Warthog, |Joystick 2|: T.Flight Rudder Pedals, |Head Motion|: TrackIr 5.
schurem Posted January 16, 2018 Posted January 16, 2018 we already have that, its in the VR tab. Your nvidia control panel also has that setting. I5 9600KF, 32GB, 3080ti, G2, PointCTRL
Gearbox Posted January 16, 2018 Posted January 16, 2018 Is this another way of saying supersampling? It's already there as an option for VR users. You can force it in a video card driver as well.
ThorBrasil Posted January 16, 2018 Author Posted January 16, 2018 But I mean as an option being part of the game. And without being VR. |Motherboard|: Asus TUF Gaming X570-PLUS, |WaterCooler|: Corsair H115i Pro, |CPU|: AMD Ryzen 7 3800X, |RAM|: Corsair Vengeance LPX 32GB 3200MHz DDR4, |SSD|: Kingston A2000 500GB M.2 NVMe, |SSD|: Kingston 2.5´ 480GB UV400 SATA III, |SSHD|: Seagate Híbrido 2TB 7200RPM SATA III, |GPU|: MSI Gaming 980Ti, |Monitor|: LG UltraWide 34UM68, |Joystick 1|: Thrustmaster Hotas Warthog, |Joystick 2|: T.Flight Rudder Pedals, |Head Motion|: TrackIr 5.
SharpeXB Posted January 19, 2018 Posted January 19, 2018 Nvidia DSR is the same supersampling and can be set in Nvidia Control Panel. IMO the in game antialiasing in DCS provides better results and is easier on performance. If your graphics card is strong enough to run 4x DSR, the equivalent of 2160p, invest in a 4K monitor and get the real benefit. i9-14900KS | ASUS ROG MAXIMUS Z790 HERO | 64GB DDR5 5600MHz | iCUE H150i Liquid CPU Cooler | ASUS TUF GeForce RTX 4090 OC | Windows 11 Home | 2TB Samsung 980 PRO NVMe | Corsair RM1000x | LG 48GQ900-B 4K OLED Monitor | CH Fighterstick | Ch Pro Throttle | CH Pro Pedals | TrackIR 5
Lixma 06 Posted January 19, 2018 Posted January 19, 2018 I'd like to see this as a native option for all users so +1 from me. I've been experimenting with supersampling and the results are very encouraging. I have a 1080p monitor and I can run 2160p with great fps (which is helped enormously by not having to use AA with the deferred renderer) and the in-game image is very sharp. Couple of questions though.... Is supersampling 2160p onto a 1080p monitor taxing the GPU more/less/same than if I just ran 2160p natively on a 2160p monitor? Is there any way to run DCS's ME/menus at native res while supersampling the 3D part? Currently they look rather blurry, even with 'scale GUI' ticked in the options.
Ala12Rv-watermanpc Posted January 19, 2018 Posted January 19, 2018 Usually, supersampling is heavier in the GPU than running the game at the equivalent real resolution...what I think would be the best thing is fixing the issue where using DSR makes the mouse not able to click things into the cockpit due to mismatch between the actual game screen size and the full screen adjusted screen size...that would be a great fix. It taxes the GPU the same but there’s not much benefit to supersampling. If you can run 2160p then you should get an actual 4K monitor. It looks amazing. i9-14900KS | ASUS ROG MAXIMUS Z790 HERO | 64GB DDR5 5600MHz | iCUE H150i Liquid CPU Cooler | ASUS TUF GeForce RTX 4090 OC | Windows 11 Home | 2TB Samsung 980 PRO NVMe | Corsair RM1000x | LG 48GQ900-B 4K OLED Monitor | CH Fighterstick | Ch Pro Throttle | CH Pro Pedals | TrackIR 5

The resizing of windows does this. Leave it at 100% that will correct this error. Remember that the resolution of the game has to be the same as the desktop. |Motherboard|: Asus TUF Gaming X570-PLUS, |WaterCooler|: Corsair H115i Pro, |CPU|: AMD Ryzen 7 3800X, |RAM|: Corsair Vengeance LPX 32GB 3200MHz DDR4, |SSD|: Kingston A2000 500GB M.2 NVMe, |SSD|: Kingston 2.5´ 480GB UV400 SATA III, |SSHD|: Seagate Híbrido 2TB 7200RPM SATA III, |GPU|: MSI Gaming 980Ti, |Monitor|: LG UltraWide 34UM68, |Joystick 1|: Thrustmaster Hotas Warthog, |Joystick 2|: T.Flight Rudder Pedals, |Head Motion|: TrackIr 5.
streakeagle Posted January 20, 2018 Posted January 20, 2018 nVidia DSR should in theory be a bit slower than simply running at 4K resolution, because first it renders at 4K per running at 4K, then it has to downsample it to your actual resolution. However simple the processing may be, the downsample has to take some time and therefore reduce performance to some extent. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]

Yeah, I know how to "fix" it...however, doing that everytime I want to play DCS is a pain in the neck thats why I said a proper working DSR would be great as most games don't behave like that when using DSR and so you dont need to do "tricks" everytime.
