toutenglisse Posted February 1, 2018 Posted February 1, 2018 Hi, it's strange but performance in 2.5 VR are "better" with Deffered Shaddings On than are with Deffered Shaddings Off. I mean with DS on fps quasi never go below 45 (but never above to!) - while with DS off fps can sometimes go to 90 but also as low as 20ish. Here an exemple with debut mission 1 campaign 1 for Ka50 (settings in picture - using pixel density 1.25 with oculus tray tool). Settings are the same - only difference is : 1 time HDR on and DS / illumination cockpit off - the other time HDR off and DS / illumination cockpit on. With DS on it never goes below 45 fps even flying low above the city waiting my teammate to take off. And it's much more beautiful.
Wolf8312 Posted February 1, 2018 Posted February 1, 2018 Hey this post just made my day! I was certain that DS combined with MSSA x4 was an unplayable mess but after reading this and checking again it is suddenly working fantastically! I don't know whether it was because I cleaned up all the config files or did a system restore for windows but its a fricking whole new game! Like you said too the performance is no longer erratic but stable! Cockpit illumination might be a bit of an issue though! I think my lamps no longer work in the Gazelle! dburne Posted February 1, 2018 Posted February 1, 2018 Yes I have pretty much settled running with both Deferred Shading and Cockpit Illumination set to on. It is gorgeous. toutenglisse Posted February 1, 2018 Author Posted February 1, 2018 Wolf8312 yes illumination cockpit seems to bug some lamps. T've turned it off. Also, terrain shadows may be set to flattened, as dafault are bugged (they move a lot and have a poor resolution) whatever the shadows are set to low, medium, or high. And it makes a difference for gpu load. dburne I agree with you it Worth the compromize. Actually the 45fps ASW on I get really used to it - it's stable, "90fps like" smooth, only downsides are the little glitches/bugs caused by synthetic ASW. Like when Hud symbology meets the sun, it wobbles, but it's compromize ^^
