tmansteve Posted February 3, 2018 Posted February 3, 2018 Hi Just need clarification when updating to 2.5. When updating from 1.5.8, I will be asked if I want to keep my 1.5.8? I was thinking of keeping it for a while just in case I have problems. Will the new update create a seperate folder in Saved Games/DCS alongside my 1.5.8 saved folder. Just getting a little confused and can't wait to fly the Nevada map etc. Should I download the Beta installer or wait for Final Release? Cheers

You will be asked if you want to keep 1.5.8 when updating the Stable branch to 2.5. Currently only the Open Beta branch is updated to 2.5, while the Stable branch remains on 1.5.8 for now. I would think , with what you have - you would download the 2.50 Open Beta from ED, it "should" find and copy some needed files from your 1.5.8 stable and 2.2 Open Alpha, and then finish downloading/installing what it needs. There is also a way to convert your 1.5.8 stable to Open Beta, then you could just run the updater from it as well. Not sure of the exact way to convert it though, maybe someone else can chime in on that. When 2.5 stable is released, will 2.5OB get updated, or 1.5.8? Frederf Posted February 4, 2018 Posted February 4, 2018 The 2.5 patch for Release branch will update Release branch to version 2.5. In such a situation OB branch will remain at version 2.5 (having not been patched).
tmansteve Posted February 4, 2018 Author Posted February 4, 2018 I think I will wait until the final release is out. Then keep my 1.5.8 and have a seperate 2.5. At least if I have any problems, I know I have something to fall back on.
