Is the Oculus tray tool still relevant in 2.5 or is it no longer applicable?

Works fine for me.

I use it with profiles set for my games.

I also use the audio switcher, and audio confirmation for when profile is applied.

For DCS I have it set for ASW off.

I've just started using it however i don't seem to be able to the DCS.exe as a profile.

I click browse point it to the dcs.exe file and it never appears in the profile list

That is odd, it certainly should work - at least did for me.

You are browsing to the DCS.exe file in the bin folder right?

It has just a standard file icon.

No, I have OTT on my C drive - DCS is on my E drive.

Same as. One thing i hadn't tried ☺

That really should not matter though, you should easily be able to pick the DCS.exe for a profile. You might want to PM ApollyonVR over on the Oculus forums and see if he has any idea why it might not be working for you.

It has worked fine for me in the last several versions of OTT.

Does it make a big difference having ASW off?

It is really a matter of personal preference and also how well you are running DCS in VR.

I prefer it off myself, as I do not care for the graphic anomalies that ASW gives. ( gunsight artifacts in the Spit, blurriness of planes as they fly past).

For me it is ok as long as I am able to maintain 45 fps and up, as I still have a smooth experience, but if I have my settings to where it dips much below 45 fps then it becomes very stuttery. And that I can not do.

Over Normandy down low I run between 45-70 fps. Up higher and/or over water, 90 fps. But very smooth.

I would suggest to anyone to try it both with and then without, and see which way you prefer.

Thanks for the responses all. My question was obviously put wrong. I agree the functionality of the Tray tool is great (and I cannot check right now but think mine was pointed to updater.exe in the bin folder of DCS so it would recognize it, if I remember correctly) and use it every start up. I was more interested to find out if the sampling for the Tool was actually linked to the game still, or if it had been "locked out" so it had no effect as was the case quite a while ago. Secondly, should the in game slider still match the Tool sampling number to prevent infighting between the two?

The sampling in OTT works just fine.

One should only use one or the other, either in game settings, or OTT setting. Not both.

For me if the game has a setting for this, that is what I use. If not, I set it in OTT for that game.

OTT don't work with Oculus latest software (1.23 and/or Dash). A new version is in the pipe. Oculus moved some parts of the software and profiles for third party programs is broken.

There is a thread in oculus forum from the developer.
