Mission 8 - can't trigger "wild weasel" after wingman shoot down.

Hey did you download the latest version of the mission from the first link? I checked it yesterday and it worked fine for me.

Sorry for this way of updating, but this is the only way to squash all the bugs quickly - and it is 2.5 Open Beta after all. Let me know if it works!

OK, then please try to fly this mission separately - open the one downloaded from the link and see if the issue persists. Remember that you can't fly too fast during the Wild Weasel as the MANPAD won't be able to lock you up properly... let me know if it works. As I said it works fine for me and for some others.

I tried flying it separately of the campaign - and the problem still exists. I don't know what I'm doing wrong - I fly over Leninogori (or somehow called this city) on different altitudes, after radio report (PONTIAC 1-1 IS MANUEVRING). I tried 3000ft, 4000ft, 5000ft on different speeds (250 knots, 300 knots, 350 knots). And nothing, manpad doesn't shoot, trigger doesn't start Hmm I don't know what is wrong. :huh:

This is really weird. I will check once again tonight but when I tested it during the update it was OK and he did shoot at me... unless for some reason he shot 3 missiles at Teeter during the first attack and now is out of ammo. I think I have an idea what to do as a safeguard. Stay tuned, I should upload a newer version of the mission in the evening Zulu time.

OK, new version of the file is up in the directory (06/02/18 23:20). However, it all worked fine for me, the MANPADs shot twice as intended. Hope it goes better for you!

 

PS. Perhaps open the mission in the editor and make the MANPADS visible on the map to make sure you are close enough to them?

I didn't get a chance to test the previous 2.5 version, but the MANPAD and follow up strike worked with the latest.

 

I missed a couple of radio messages but I think that was because I'd misconfigured the manual mode on the green U/VHF radio (was ok in 1.5) and my attack run ended in a CFIG, lol.

 

The mission does look pretty in 2.5 though.

 

 

• set altimeter pressure to 1013 mbar and fly at 300 KIAS/12000ft between WP 3 and 4,

• when Tatter gets shot down - make a mark point (MRC, then Validate)

• set nav to the newly created waypoint 91, to know where he/the town is at

• set chaff (prog 5) and D2M active,

• as you make your dive - make the call to the spotter and follow the river along the valley bottom

• I flew low 800 ft AGL and slow 300 KIAS past the town and preemptively popped flares

• the D2M gave warning/direction of the second launch and I popped more flares and watched the MANPAD miss

• the spotters saw the launch and followed up with a strike.

Cool, thanks for the info! Worked the same for me.

On another topic - can you confirm that Chevy 06 flight engaged all the targets you asked him to attack? For me he had some trouble engaging the trucks during my test, but everything is configured properly within the mission itself...

Same and I had the same impression in 1.5 but never successfully completed the mission in 1.5, so can't be sure.

 

 

• Total mission time: 1 hour 35 minutes

• Once I spotted infantry group A by the HH building, I called 'Tally' (thinking it meant 'target in sight') - but Teeter then gave the location of group B, as if he thought I'd destroyed group A

• so perhaps I gave the calls in the wrong sequence or misunderstood the meaning ?

• I took out both infantry groups but not their transports before calling 'Tally' a second time.

• the troop convoy appeared and I had the option to call in Coton 6

• when called to bomb the convoy, Coton 6 engaged the SA-11 first and took several bombing runs to destroy the site.

• as I didn't know what Coton 6 was doing and could see the convoy approaching

• I engaged with rockets, which stopped the trucks but didn't destroy any.

• I told the Huey's to pick up Teeter as there were no combatants in the town

• but disengaged my attack on the convoy to deal with an approaching helicopter.

• returning to deal with the convoy, I switched to canon and killed 2 trucks before Coton 6 turned up to steal my last kill by dropping a Mk-82 (15 minutes after I made the call, lol).

• I also asked Coton 6 to take out the infantry (as their transports were still alive)

• I took out transport A in the town before I was out of ammo/fuel, leaving one alive.

• The Huey's just circled the town so I guess I should have put more priority on the transports in the town (one Huey despawned in tacview but I don't know if it meant Teeter was rescued or was a bug.

• Note: In 1.5 the Huey's/Teeter would die to small arms fire but I dealt with the infantry this time.

• I RTB'd and had to refuel to taxi to ramp, lol. Although I didn't see/hear a success message, Teeter is presumably alive as the campaign has progressed to Mission 9.

• Very enjoyable, despite my problems

Aaaand another fail. In the meantime the trigger of SAMs working fine (great thank you, finally works :D), the mission hangs on point where the heli go to pick up pilot. Huey land on pickup zone and nothing happens. I asked Coton to destroy 3 trucks moving along river and it worked. Then I made runs with rockets to kill infantry. I asked Huey to move into the target area (I didn't noticed I didn't destroyed trucks near smoke stack and double H building). Strange. It is obligatory to destroy ALL enemies before i ask CSAR to land?

 

I'm pretty much tired of this campaign. It's full of bugs and not working triggers. Maybe the triggers itself are working, but I think there are too many rules to fullfill for these triggers to work. I don't like that.

I just flew this mission with the latest version. Everything goes to plan until Ford lands in the town. It just sits there and there are no further messages. Eventually it slides slowly into a building and explodes! I did notice afterwards that there was one truck left.

Try the newest version from the link, I think it should be fixed now - the altitude for touch down was in MSL, and the whole map alt changed it seems in 2.5. The newest version (09/02/18 22:00) should have it covered, it didn’t get to quick fix.

 

I don’t think tou need to destroy all the teucks.

I'm pretty much tired of this campaign. It's full of bugs and not working triggers. Maybe the triggers itself are working, but I think there are too many rules to fullfill for these triggers to work. I don't like that.

 

Then just imagine how much fun it is to upgrade everything to a completely new version of DCS where literally everything changes (parking spots, altitude, terrain, forests etc). In this situation I don’t like the campaign either ;) but honestly I know it is not for everyone, some people prefer much simpler missions or less dialogues / background story. Can’t satisdy everyone.

 

And on a side note - on top of this I had two DLC campaigns to review and update in quite a short time doing it as a completely side job to my normal work and family - so apologies it didn’t come out ready when 2.5 OB appeared, but it was simply not possible to do. That is why I am counting so much on your feedback guys for Open Beta (as this is what it’s for).

I can understand that. It must be hard for one person to fix and do everything by himself. I'm really thankful for your time spent on support in every case :) What I wrote earlier was just my subjective opinion why most things don't work.

 

I will try newest updated version and I will notice if Huey take off from town.

Still not working. I noticed that there are 2 Hueys (?) trying to land in Leninogori. First one land without problems, but second one is circling around the village, and can't land. I think there is problem why it is not working. After 2.5 release, Georgia is a lot more forested than it was, and most places are now with trees - probably that causes problems for AI to land. I would recommend or removing one helicopter or change place of landing of this helo. The one working, is landing beetwen double H building and smoke chimney. The second one I can see try to land in place where is forest, I would recommend removing it or change place of his landing.

Thanks for your hard work getting Mission 8 working (still to test the update myself).

 

I noticed a typo for the TACAN channel in the kneeboard briefing when setting the radios at Vaziani and decide to give you the feedback in case you wanted to fix it.

 

 

In "Mission 7 FINAL.miz"

 

• Vaziani (TACAN 22X) and Kutaisi (TACAN 44X) have their channels swapped

 

(the briefing image is "M07 notebook v4.png" and the kneeboard image "Kneeboard_2.jpg")

 

and in "Mission 8 FINAL.miz"

 

•the error propagated and Vaziani is listed as 44X

 

(the briefing image is "M08 notebook v3.png" and the kneeboard image "Kneeboard_2.jpg")

 

• the other missions look ok but it's always possible I've missed a typo - so no promises, lol

IIRC only one Huey should land, the second one is providing air cover... did the first one land OK?

Coton 06-2 perfoms manpad bomb run and crash

Coton 06-1 did no bomb run on any inf even he respond Tally on the groupes, spends all fuel and crash.

None of the UH1 uses its weapons on remaining inf (juste waits to be shot down).

I did the campaign in 1.5 previously.
