Please bring back 1.5/2.2 scaling

I've noticed that pixel scaling for aircrafts and ground units in VR is gone in 2.5 Open Beta and it's a real shame. It makes things nearly impossible to spot in the Rift. I flew with a friend last night and I couldn't maintain a wide formation with him. He wasn't even a mile out that I started losing sight of him, every time. Rejoins took several minutes and were a nightmare. Pretty much ruined the flight for me.

I don't know why scaling got suddenly removed. Its implementation in 1.5/2.2 was pretty much perfect. It was highly effective yet very smooth and natural looking at the same time.

I now have deferred shading enabled, unlike in 1.5/2.2 where I kept it off but I doubt it has anything to do with this... Anyway I hope ED will bring back the good old scaling in 2.5 release version !

Edit: Looks like there's no scaling involved and it's the deferred shading that's causing the trouble.

Actually a 1.7 PD would make the other aircraft smaller than 1.0 so its probable your eye site is much better than the OP.

For a lot of us it is an issue and it would be a very much appreciated option added back into DCS.

I have 12/10 eyesight so if he has a better eyesight than me he's probably in the top 1% :D

I am but the problem is that I need to know where to look in order to use the zoom effectively. It doesn't help much when I have no clue where my wingman is. It's not such a big deal when flying the A-10C because I can use the TAD but on other airframes having no scaling is quite problematic.

Communnication Calling bearing, attitude, airspeed. you can use F10 with numbers on the different sectors where to fly. When i will look for another one from my team i ask for these info and go hunt to find them. :D When i find them and joined up. It's satisfying for me and the teammembers. don't know if you have something on this info but it's worth to look at it and maybe train it.

We do, we use SRS and communicate quite extensively. Problem is that now I find myself passing by my wingman something like 2000 ft away without even seeing him :noexpression:

I know spotting in VR is on the list of Eagle Dyamics. Hope it's getting better in the future

The thing I don't understand is it was already perfect in 1.5.8/2.2. I don't understand why they removed it suddenly...

I experience the oppisit exactly.

with 1.5/2.2 getting a tally on anything was almost impossible.

and now with 2.5 it's much more reliable and manageable.

PD very much affects the tally distance, and with PD above 1.5 you see significant drop in distance. but it's nothing like what it was in 1.5.8

Tgt spotting in 2.5 is the best it’s ever been for me. Not sure why others are having problems. Think maybe you need to adjust your world scale to more lifelike size settings

...do not use Deferred Shading...you will get your clarity back!

im not really sure what the scaling did? i dont notice any difference between 1.5.8 and 2.5 in terms of size of a target at distance... theyre dots

Have you reduced your vis range?I've left mine on high.

as long as theres a dot...like maybe 2-3 pixels i can see it clearly and know what it is (a bogey or missile)

ID'ing something aint gonna happen but i can orient and figure out what im seeing based on RWR and friendly reports etc.

I did a test today with deferred shading on and off and it looks like you are right! When aircrafts in the distance look like dots with it off, I see nothing with it on. After trying the mirage missile fight quickstart mission on caucasus multiple times, the results were quite clear. With deferred shading on I got shot down pretty much every time and with it off I was able to kill all 4 opponents and succeed the mission consistently.

Contrary to what I thought there might not have been a scaling in place that got removed but instead it's the deferred shading that is making things hard to spot.
