draconus Posted February 6, 2018 Posted February 6, 2018 Can one set different texture setting just for cockpit? Maybe some config file edit? I'm on low spec rig and any higher than 'Low' eats up my memory and make things unplayable (2.5OB) but in 'Low' setting some cockpit instruments are unreadable (e.g. F-15C warning panel). Raz_Specter Posted February 8, 2018 Posted February 8, 2018 I do hate to say it but maybe its time for a little upgrade? I appreciate people are on systems that they used to play DCS on, however, with the progression of the sim and the new eye candy this will require more horsepower. Just the same as a game written in 4 years will probably require more than one written today. but maybe a good idea to have this setting, especially for VR users Custom built W10 Pro 64Bit, Intel Core i9 9900k, Asus ROG Maximus Code XI Z390, 64GB DDR4 3200 RGB, Samsung 1TB NVme M.2 Drive, Gigabyte AORUS 2080TI, 40" Iiyama Display. draconus Posted February 8, 2018 Author Posted February 8, 2018 I do hate to say it but maybe its time for a little upgrade? Tell me something I don't know. I'm perfectly fine with what I see outside but setting 'low' make some things unreadable which should not. I want to focus on flying and instruments not stopping for making beautyful pictures. The graphics settings are there for a reason. You can't just leave the option for "3d graphics : ON" and expect everyone to have latest PC hardware. Even top selling games don't do that. You can still run them on quite old low spec rigs with lowest settings to leave people with options to decide. Just the same as a game written in 4 years will probably require more than one written today. but maybe a good idea to have this setting, especially for VR users Has nothing to do with a bit of good old fashioned performance scaling. Having ground objects, even other planes, that you only see close up about 0.01% of the game time, or only see from maybe 1km away, run highest possible texture resolution, makes little sense. So I agree with you Draconus, and I made a post in the wishlist forum earlier today, before I saw this thread. https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=201934 1 - Jack of many DCS modules, master of none. - Personal wishlist: F-15A, F-4S Phantom II, JAS 39A Gripen, SAAB 35 Draken, F-104 Starfighter, Panavia Tornado IDS. | Windows 11 | i5-12400 | 64Gb DDR4 | RTX 3080 | 2x M.2 | 27" 1440p | Rift CV1 | Thrustmaster Warthog HOTAS | MFG Crosswind pedals |
draconus Posted February 14, 2018 Author Posted February 14, 2018 Current textures settings also affect the kneeboard. It makes even less sense to have the kneeboard image of low quality. Win10 i7-10700KF 32GB RTX4070S Quest 3 T16000M VPC CDT-VMAX TFRP FC3 F-14A/B F-15E CA SC NTTR PG Syria
