cichlidfan Posted March 2, 2018 Posted March 2, 2018 (edited) Freaking AWESOME,.. :D:thumbup: Actually, it's a bit scary. You should see what else is in the boxes I pulled those from. Now I really feel old. PS,.. Wot no CAL packs,.. Since I worked in an MSDN environment, I never saw anything but raw distro CD's. The rest came from corporate server DLs. BitMaster Posted March 2, 2018 Posted March 2, 2018 https://www.win-raid.com/t834f25-USB-Drivers-original-and-modded.html I donwloaded both ASmedia and Intel 64bit naked drivers. Going to give it a shot later today. FragBum, I would give this a chance, it's a few minutes only installing the drivers as described on that page ( mind the Tips for the Intel driver ) Whenever you flash a USB chip....USE A DIFFERENT USB CHIP FOR MOUSE + KEYBOARD WHEN YOU DO IT, OR VNC/RDP !!!!!! ..or find yourself stuck at the most stupid moment ! At least my Intel controller uses the wrong driver, ASmedia may use the ASmedia in a MS WHQL pack, not sure, I will try both and see if it runs "smoother" with USB in general and Rift Sensors as well. FragBum Posted March 2, 2018 Author Posted March 2, 2018 Interesting however it's odd that it worked until ms did an upgrade. BitMaster Posted March 2, 2018 Posted March 2, 2018 I will get me another USB3.0 Slot for the back, the board has 3 headers, 2 x USB3.1Gen1 and 1 x USB3.1Gen2, and I only use one of them as of now. If I could find one for Gen2 with standard "old" sockets I'd get that one, but those are not available yet, nowhere that I looked. The Slot thing is 20€ and wont need a PCIe, I already have my 2nd 1Gbit Intel in one slot, if I need another one I will have to shut down exactly that USB socket I plan to use. Too few PCIe lanes everywhere on this board. Either or everywhere but never both or all. Intel BS. It will give me 2 more USB "options" tho the chip is basically the same one as Socket #1. Havent tried the drivers yet, maybe later tonight Gigabyte Aorus X570S Master - Ryzen 5900X - Gskill 64GB 3200/CL14@3600/CL14 - Sapphire Nitro+ 7800XT - 4x Samsung 980Pro 1TB - 1x Samsung 870 Evo 1TB - 1x SanDisc 120GB SSD - Heatkiller IV - MoRa3-360LT@9x120mm Noctua F12 - Corsair AXi-1200 - TiR5-Pro - Warthog Hotas - Saitek Combat Pedals - Asus XG27ACG QHD 180Hz - Corsair K70 RGB Pro - Win11 Pro/Linux - Phanteks Evolv-X
hansangb Posted March 2, 2018 Posted March 2, 2018 Guys, If you think NT4 was awesome, that's the fading memory removing all the "bad things" leaving you with a sense of nostalgia :) And I get that some updating breaking things is annoying, but I will once again remind folks that MS-DOS 5 is the only OS that never got a .1 release. And while MS does QA, you can't expect them to hit every combination of every peripheral. I'm sure they didn't wake up and said "let's screw with our customers by removing the ability to use mouse/keyboard" So I get that it's annoying, but I'm sure it's an oversight (and yes, I get that it's annoying to be on the receiving end of it) hsb HW Spec in Spoiler --- i7-10700K Direct-To-Die/OC'ed to 5.1GHz, MSI Z490 MB, 32GB DDR4 3200MHz, EVGA 2080 Ti FTW3, NVMe+SSD, Win 10 x64 Pro, MFG, Warthog, TM MFDs, Komodo Huey set, Rverbe G1

cichlidfan Posted March 3, 2018 Posted March 3, 2018 Guys, If you think NT4 was awesome, that's the fading memory removing all the "bad things" leaving you with a sense of nostalgia :) At the time, it seemed awesome (compared to NT 3.1). FragBum Posted March 3, 2018 Author Posted March 3, 2018 Well got the bigger hammer out and well I can live with this for the time being. Clean install Window 10 (fairly recent DVD media) Forced usb drivers from MoBo DVD utility. I has keyboard, mouse, Rift and DCS,... :D :pilotfly: Thanks everyone that was a major pain, but got it sorted in the end. BTW I lost a couple of DRM authorisations across a few models and I am fairly certain my hair is slightly greyer and maybe a bit thinner. ;) If it bugs me enough I'll sus it out latter. :P Control is an illusion which usually shatters at the least expected moment. hansangb Posted March 3, 2018 Posted March 3, 2018 One last thing, I wouldn't sweat the DRM. Even if you are down to zero, once a month, you can do one install.
