I stumbled accross a bit of footage of what seems to be an an amazing new upgrade to the Paveway series of guided bombs. Done by the Japanese no less.

But see for yourself.

I laughed a lot!

SPOILER: This is actually from a cheap Japanese animation show. It's not real, I just had to laugh when I saw it and wanted to share it because it looked to me that the guys who drew this didn't know much about airforce technology.

uhh they may be Paveway's but their sure arnt AGM-123 Skipper's either. The GBU-27 is a Paveway.

The Paveway series of bombs includes:

  • GBU-10 Paveway II – Mk842000 lb (909 kg) bomb
  • GBU-12 Paveway II – Mk82 500 lb (227 kg) bomb
  • GBU-16 Paveway II – Mk831000 lb (454 kg) bomb
  • GBU-24 Paveway III – Mk84 2000 lb (909 kg) bomb
  • GBU-27 Paveway III – BLU-109 2000 lb (909 kg) bomb with penetration warhead
  • Paveway IV – 500 lb (227 kg) bomb

Compare this: AGM-123

to this: GBU-27

250px-GBU-27_xxl.jpg

and then, to this: Fake picture

02eh0.jpg

Seeee....they are GBU-27's in that picture:smilewink:, not an AGM-123 that DOES use a rocket:D. And let me add.....no F-15 can carry Laser Guided Missles other than the Strike, Slam, and Thunder Eagle's. Neither can they carry mavericks and JDAM's! Unless if their pylons, avionics, and weapons systems are changed.:P

I laughed a lot!

im laughing so hard right now because you believe those fake pictures. The Japan Air Self Defense Force acquired 203 F-15Js and 20 F-15DJs from 1981, of which 2 F-15J's and 12 F-15DJ's were made in US and the rest by Mitsubishi under license.

F-15J: Single-seat all-weather air-superiority fighter version for Japan. Built under licence in Japan by Mitsubishi.

F-15DJ: Two-seat training version for Japan. Built under licence in Japan by Mitsubishi.

The Japanese Air Self-Defense force only has 2 types of F-15's....one is a training model and the other is an air superiority keeper...NOT a ground attack fighter.

Japanese TV shows or games rarely go for realism. They make sipffy and good looking stuff but they care less about realism, the pics above shows the perfect example.

doesnt matter to me what so ever but I would just be mad that I am being showing false information and pictures of jets not capable of things it isnt even ment for it. The lying would just make me turn the show off, Period. Thats like showing a Phoenix and Harpoon on a P-51.....whats that?!?!? Even though that would be just plain hilarious to see.....entirely IMPOSSIBLE

my 2 cent :)

Ummm...what makes you guys think the post was made for anything other than humorous reasons? I mean...its nice to know that some of you know so much about the F-15J, but what part of the original post struck you as being serious? Sheesh...get a sense of humor will ya?!

Wow this is quite funny, maybe their aim-9s could also be used to destroy ground moving vehicles :megalol:

btw From what anime is this? Is this new series or just plain "promotional" anime/cartoon for a game?

It's a GBU-24, not a -27. In any case, F-15s can't carry bombs on their wing rails either.

Oh I got humor towards it because the jets look freakin hilarious but if I lived there, I would get rid of the lying channels. :P

no!.........but I am pretty sure those mavericks are equipped with thermal targetting and are X-ray guided:smilewink:

their not -24's. The ones on the eagle up close has GBU-27's on it but the far ones might have GBU-24's but to me their all -27's because -24's are thicker shorter as for the -27 which is thinner and longer. But there are different types of GBU-24's anyways so I guess we may both be wrong but oh well:doh::smilewink:

OMG! Its a friggin' cartoon for cryin' out loud! Lying channels? Yes, this type of fanciful programming is exclusive to Japan, no other place in the world has imaginative programming. In America, our cartoons are always 100% technically accurate. :megalol: Heh...and now we're discussing where an F-15 can actually carry GBUs? Am I, and a couple others here, the only ones who recognize that the pics in the original post are from a cartoon? MBot shared some interesting information with us about a RL rocket-powered GBU, and some of ya just run WAY too far with it. Wow...just...wow.

I was just ribbing ya ;) But seriously - look at the tail section of the Paveways - those are Paveway III tail kits, which are not found on the GBU-27 (too big to fit in the F-117's bomb bay).

Wow! This is getting better and better. All you have to do is look at the three pics in the first post in this thread. Are you serious? Are you telling me that you don't recognize those as being from a cartoon or maybe a silly video game? Oh well...maybe the next time a guy posts something for humor, he needs to tell you its not real and that his post isn't serious? :megalol:

LOPE a payload on an F-15 and get a squad on there, take a picture, load adobe, and animate it.....:lol: By the way.....investigate some cartoons actually...last time I heard, they dont feature military aircraft.:megalol:

Yes, I know you wrote in your post that they were fake pictures. It was just absolutely hilarious to me that you seemed to think Gungelgauk wasn't aware that they were fake pictures. Are you getting a clue as to what I meant yet? Thanks for pointing that out, BTW, nobody else here would have figured it out otherwise.

BTW...maybe you should just go back to your original screen name and continue telling us about the guys you know who are NATOPs, along with guys you recognize from grainy videos because of their mustaches. :megalol:

Anybody here likes Disney fake pictures ? But my favourite fake picture is Tom & Jerry. The Fake Picture Network has also some nice stuff, altough it is sometimes lying...

Ok first off, I didn't even read all the replies yet but... Wow, sorry, I didn't know this would cause confusion. It's obviously from Japanese animation (in this case a really cheap one too), so yes, it's fake. It's not really the same as a cartoon, this one has people dying etc.

Still, I was watching and somehow trying to follow the storyline when I saw these jets. I took a look at the payload and thought to myself "wow, nice". But when I saw these 'missiles' being fired I thought that something didn't look right. I replayed it and had to laugh a lot because it looked to me at that time that the guys who made it didn't know much about what they were drawing. I guess what made it hilarious was the fact that those jets are meant to be F-15s instead of just some futuristic jets and the weapons looked relatively realistic too (compared to the cheap quality of the whole animation). And then suddenly Paveways started flying all over the place, lol.

What had me stumped about MBot's link was the general fact that GBUs were actually equipped with rocket motors, even though they were clearly not the same type as the drawn ones in the pics.

Should have made the humorous intent of the OP more obvious.

It seems to be the first episode of a very cheap anime. It's completely in Japanese, so I don't even know what it's called. And it's not really about aviation either, rather it's a blatant rip-off of Neon Genesis Evangelion.

To add to this conversation, I wanted to show you some pics of our special forces in action. In this first one the oil well fires from Gulf War 1 caused some mutation in some of the local wildlife, but as usual our fantastic Spec Ops guys managed to take one down that was causing havok in the region.

This is the new coalition commander for the middle east region. This picture was shot while he was on a training exercise in Guatemala.
