Mistermann Posted March 5, 2018 Posted March 5, 2018 I am a new mission writer and wondering how to successfully direct/control individual units in a group. Here's the situation. ** Blue units are protecting the Kutaisi airport ** Overwhelming Red force moving to capture the Kutasi airport After battle, the Red units move to center of Kutasi airport and capture it for Red Coalition. I tell the remaining units in the group to form a Diamond formation at the DP. 1) Is there a way to disperse the remaining units so they take cover or are spread out in a more realistic way? 2) If I move in a reinforcement group, is there any way to place specific units in specific locations around the airport? I suspect the answers here are No. Or not easily. :smilewink: If that's the case, what do you mission builders recommend? If airport is captured spawn in specific units and just tell the Blue side that reinforcements arrived? Maybe that's the way to do it given the limitations of the ME (and my skills). Thanks! baltic_dragon Posted March 5, 2018 Posted March 5, 2018 It is kinda tricky with the ground troops and there is no way for controlling behaviour of separate vehicles / soldiers apart from using formation commands or templates. So in theory you could create a template putting all the soldiers where you want them to be, save it and then tell the unit to change formation to that given template at a given moment or (preferably) waypoint, but it is not guaranteed it would work... if you want more control use several smaller groups or even single - unit groups. Wrecking Crew Posted March 8, 2018 Posted March 8, 2018 In DCS v2.5 there are new chain link fences around airbases. I just took this screenie of Kutasi's fence. These fences are impassable. Missions that were won based upon Coalition Captures Airbase are not achievable because the attacking vehicles cannot run over the fence. This is Kutasi's fence - Visit the Hollo Pointe DCS World server -- an open server with a variety of COOP & H2H missions including Combined Arms.
