My biggest question has anybody tried the new Insider build that came out today and if so does it improve performance in dcs world.

As of now the reprojection WMR uses is not very good in dcs world in comparison to Rifts ASW.

That totally blows.

I assume your system meets minimum specs. The HMD is plugged into the primary display adapter? You’re not using both onboard VGA and discrete VGA right? If so switch to the discrete card. There was a couple of decent sized downloads even after the Fall Creator’s update. I installed the developer’s software as well because I pre-ordered mine. Not sure if you would still need that but it can’t hurt.

Does the green light between the lenses flash with the unit plugged in?

Have you tried forcing a Windows update with the unit plugged in? I had to do that on my backup machine. Native HDMI plug without any type of adapter?

thank you for sharing assistance.

pretty much all of the above.

odyssey hdmi into directly 1080Ti.

tried on two PCs, but different results.

on my 8700K PC, there is caution symbol on 800ZAA in devices and printers where as my 6700K PC does not.

it look like it was working more on my 6700K PC, but unfortunatly i dont have bluetooth on that PC, im waiting for the adapter to come from amazon in two days.

(my 8700K PC has on board bluetooth)

and yes, the green light does flash... on both PCs

both with Windows 10, version 1709

***update*** after getting drivers for hololens for my 8700K PC, the mixed reality portal app recognized the odyssey!!!!!!!!!

Glad it's running for you. That 1080ti will allow you some pretty high settings.

I find it is noticeably better than the rift. I find it is brighter and clearer. I can read the guages even with a PD of 1

With the rift I had to zoom in to read them with the same PD

Not nearly perfect but a step up

Hannibal, sorry for an obvious question, but you're using the latest version of Windows 10?

Not to diminish what you're experiencing, cuz that's gotta be frustrating, but once I updated to the Fall Creators Update (and beyond), installing my Odyssey couldn't have been easier, or more plug-and-play.

The .251 update came out 2 days ago. It’s just a feature update and MS is aware of the problem. The update is working for most but you still get the error. Mine keeps rolling back to the February update. Should be fixed in the next couple of days. Doesn’t effect VR though.

Did you install the developers package? Can’t hurt.

Are you able to use the HMD at all?

I tried the Odyssey a few days ago. Not enough difference in resolution to make up for all the other issues it has. Boxed it back up and sent it back and fired the Rift back up. Of course, now the Rift is dead (Actually every Rift in the Universe) until Oculus figures out how to defeat their own security process and send out a fix

If you have the option, and it's not too much trouble, I would try a clean installation of Windows 10. Then do all of your windows updates, then install any graphics drivers etc.

(I know it's a pain, but it's likely the fastest way to get it working since there is no obvious cause)

Same problem. Ive encountered every single install issue along the way. I had to manually install the software after it wouldnt install automatically.

Now im getting a "Something went wrong and we couldnt start windows mixed reality software"

Different ports, Updating windows, reinstalling windows etc. Nothing has worked. I thought Pimax were amateurish but comparatively this is just pure BS.

Must be gremlins in your rigs, had absolutely no issue with the Odyssey. Plugged it in installed good to go. Also for folks who think their isnt a big difference between this HMD and Rift, lol go to 1.5 pixel density or higher its amazing.
