Tinkickef Posted March 20, 2018 Posted March 20, 2018 (edited) Be really nice for peeps like me that use mission editor to populate the maps with ground objects, like parked aircraft on ramps, service vehicles and buildings around roads to make new barrack areas ect, as well as new villages to have at least a scale outline for the static object selected, so we can easily place them instead of the ubiquitous red/blue rectangles. Currently I have to fire up the mission to observe the resulting jumble of overlapping, wrong direction pointing buildings, and aircraft which commonly have trucks sticking out of the nose in restricted ramp areas. Then try memorise them in order to rectify things. Surely the devs have a tool such as this, so it can't be too hard to stick it in ME? Currently it is a fest of run, save, run, save, run, dammit ME has crashed on me. Cont alt del restart. Also be nice to have a satellite view of the terrain as seen in mission (thinking of all those light coloured roads and none populated outlines of airbases on NTTR here) so we can populate them with appropriate buildings. laumaya Posted March 21, 2018 Posted March 21, 2018 Yes a 3D editor like the one from Arma 3 would be great ! Current specs: Windows 10 64bit, i7-7700K @ 4.8 Ghz, 32 GB RAM, 1 To SSD, RTX2070-Super, TrackIR 5, TM Warthog, TM T.Flight Rudder Pedals
Tippis Posted March 21, 2018 Posted March 21, 2018 Even something as simple as a an arrow or axis display under the spinning model that indicates how the model aligns with its 0° rotation, and maybe an indication of model size would help alleviate a lot of the guesswork. Just knowing that the door to the house is on the right, and that the house is 40m long would help in positioning it properly from the start using the measurement aids available in the editor. ❧ ❧ Inside you are two wolves. Northstar98 Posted March 21, 2018 Posted March 21, 2018 +1 Something like EDEN would be a godsend, obviously I'd keep the current 2D editor as it's more useful for creating waypoints, but a 3D editor is badly needed for base construction, ground vehicle/infantry groups and even ship formations. One thing I'd also like to see is coordinate editing, i.e we can key in a coordinate and the highlighted unit will snap to that position, it can be handy for making group formations. The other thing is to rework all current static objects and add a huge stockpile of new ones things like. HESCO Bastion. Preferably given as: single units, walls, corners, bunkers, towers, tunnels. All with multiple configurations and size options. T-walls, again, multiple configurations and size options (short, tall etc) Containers (preferably closed and open) Fences - preferably multiple types, lengths and heights as well as corners Buildings, new houses, towers, shelters, tanks, garages, hangars, workshops etc, again preferably multiple variations. New FARP Heliports, the new single helipad was a good start, but is aesthetically inconsistent (it's concrete instead of the metal mat structure), some new variants would be welcomed. New military structures: command centres, FARP buildings, depots and outposts, preferably with variations but even better would be user configurable with multiple assets in the case of outposts. New static objects that can have triggered animations/effects/functions. Things like barriers, IEDs, gates, lights/beacons, radio antennae and sirens. Environmental objects, trees (multiple variants), revetments (multiple configurations, lengths and heights), craters, rocks etc. Once we have/if we get proper underwater facilitation, (functioning) naval mines, nets. Also things like piers, jetties, lighthouses, beacons and buoys as well as civil RADAR units. Landmine variations (anti-personnel & anti-tank) Modules I own: F-14A/B, F-4E, Mi-24P, AJS 37, AV-8B N/A, F-5E-3, MiG-21bis, F-16CM, F/A-18C, Supercarrier, Mi-8MTV2, UH-1H, Mirage 2000C, FC3, MiG-15bis, Ka-50, A-10C (+ A-10C II), P-47D, P-51D, C-101, Yak-52, WWII Assets, CA, NS430, Hawk.
