spetsnaz26 Posted March 25, 2018 Posted March 25, 2018 With the in-game screenshot function the result looks like a very wide angle shot with distortion around the edges. I understand that just like the mirror this is taken from the left eye view. The short question is: how to take a 'normal' screenshot like the ones you get when not in VR?
uri_ba Posted March 26, 2018 Posted March 26, 2018 Unfortunately, I don't think it's possible. You can try the trick where you tell windows you run a 4k monitor. It will make the mirror considerably larger in resolution, then crop the screenshot. But the res is still significantly lower the "normal" screenshot Creator of Hound ELINT script My pit building blog Few DIY projects on Github: DIY Cougar throttle Standalone USB controller | DIY FCC3 Standalone USB Controller
El Bastardo Posted March 26, 2018 Posted March 26, 2018 Only way I can think of is you replay the track in non-VR and take the screenshot. But if you're flying the viggen you might be out of luck, unless Heatblur already converted the Viggen to the random number generator ED provides.

I thought that was a time compression problem. good tip though thanks.

In the 'all things VR' youtube video the author seems to have quite normal streaming out of VR, not sure why it'd be difficult to take a screenshot? Such a pretty game, real pity if I can't take good pictures.

But still portrait, and still distorted near the top and bottom. But cropping the center makes for some nice photos because the resolution is so high. Ill try and post one in a little bit. Jabbers_ Posted March 29, 2018 Posted March 29, 2018 Hey thanks Jabbers,I guess that will have to do for now. Ya unfortunately for VR this is just how it is. When you screenshot DCS just dumps the left eye render target to disk. Anything else could be more expensive (though probably not a huge expense). Ideally, if we could resize the window to fit our screen (not alt+enter) so that it properly cropped the view like other games (Elite Dangerous, Project Cars, VTOL VR, etc) perhaps then taking a screenshot can just dump the already cropped view from the mirror to disk, but till then this is what we have. P.S. I have reported a feedback item to allow resizing of the window, along with examples, so hopefully one day :) Twitch2DCS - Bring twitch chat into DCS. I occasionally disable VR just to admire it on a monitor. Thanks.

I tried to set my resolution to 3840 by 2160 as instructed in the video but the monitor turned black when I clicked 'test'. Is this resolution specific to my VR? I'm using a Odyssey with two 1440x1600 screens. Monitor is a LG g sync monitor. Not sure what's wrong here. Thanks
