ED Team BIGNEWY Posted April 7, 2018 ED Team Posted April 7, 2018 release is 2.5 open beta is 2.5 legacy is 1.5.8 if you have 1.5.8 you can update it to 2.5 either with command prompt or shortcut if you have 2.5 beta keep it ( it is currently the same as release), it is the test version and will change before the release version in many cases. If you have room have both or all 3, it is up to you They are separate installs and are independent of each other https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/downloads/world/ Forum rules - DCS Crashing? ivo Posted April 7, 2018 Author Posted April 7, 2018 Thank BIGNEWY at moment no update to release 2.5 will wait for auto-update ( 2.5 openbeta to release version) Right ? cpu:I7-6700k Z170 16GB Ram DDR4 Gtx 1080 8Gb DDR5 11GBs SSD 500 Gb 2 HDD 1Tb Evga supernova G2 850w Case Bequiet series 800 Silent base Win 10 pro 64 bit My wishlist: F-35/B-17G/F4U Corsair/Yak-3/P-40B Tomahawk
MrDieing Posted April 7, 2018 Posted April 7, 2018 No, you will have to switch back to release branch manually. ''Greed is a bottomless pit which exhausts the person in an endless effort to satisfy the need without ever reaching satisfaction.'' Erich Fromm
ED Team BIGNEWY Posted April 7, 2018 ED Team Posted April 7, 2018 Thank BIGNEWY at moment no update to release 2.5 will wait for auto-update ( 2.5 openbeta to release version) Right ? If you currently have the beta there is no update yet. it will automatically update the open beta when there is an update for the openbeta. If you want, install the release version also, it is up to you depending on your needs and space, it is a separate install. as others have mentioned you can switch your current install to release by using a command prompt, personally I would just install a fresh release version and keep both. prccowboy Posted April 7, 2018 Posted April 7, 2018 If you want, install the release version also, it is up to you depending on your needs and space, it is a separate install. How do I keep both installs and make sure that they only update their branch? After I installed the stable 2.5, my Registry key changed to reflect only the new install. Can I manually add a "DCS World OpenBeta" key to point at the OB install - and will this prevent updates to the OB messing with the stable version?

If you have both DCS and DCS.openbeta they will only update their own branch automatically, you don't need to do anything, as they are separate installs. each install has its own autoupdate.cfg which points to the correct branch, and each time you start them they will check for an update.
