Wild.Bill.Kelso Posted March 18, 2007 Posted March 18, 2007 I am thinking of getting some foot pedals for my setup. Not really sure if they are worth it because I have never had any or even tried some. 1) Do they add very much to the flight control and realism? Worth spending the $$? 2) What do you use your Rudder Lever for on your Hotas once you get pedals? 3) Can they be used in non-flight sims, like driving sims? Thanks, WBK
Pilotasso Posted March 18, 2007 Posted March 18, 2007 yep, I tried CH pedals for months, they are good durable and handle great. .
Aeroscout Posted March 18, 2007 Posted March 18, 2007 Are the CH ones compatable with the X52? I heard somewhere that they were ot great to use with it, even though they're seporate USB devices. DCS Wishlist: 1) FIX THE DAMN RIVERS!!! 2) Spherical or cylindrical panorama view projection. 3) Enhanced input options (action upon button release, etc). 4) Aircraft flight parameter dump upon exit (stick posn, attitude, rates, accel, control volume, control-surface positions, SAS bias, etc). 5) ADS-33 maneuver courses as static objects. 6) Exposed API or exports of trim position and stick force for custom controllers. 7) Select auto multiple audio devices
scatter Posted March 18, 2007 Posted March 18, 2007 Lomac allows you to use multiple controllers (so no problem mixing brands) - some older sims may not. BTW saitek has recently brought out their own pedals - I have no idea how good they are as I use ch gear (Rugg's analog braking sounds interesting). As to using the rudders I find that if I don't stand on them the A10 seems to turn like a 747. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Virtual Australian Air Force

Are the CH and X52 really a problem?
PoleCat Posted March 18, 2007 Posted March 18, 2007 You will absolutley love rudders once you use them, to me it feels crazy to Use my Cougar without them. Right now I am using the Simped Vario pro with the F-16/Toe brake addons. Smooth and precise, thats nice. Out http://www.104thphoenix.com/
ericinexile Posted March 18, 2007 Posted March 18, 2007 I've got the Saitek pedals that are paired with my X-52. The pedals work very well and make flying the su25 much easier. Each unpaired weapons-drop creates a yaw/roll moment that forces you to either side-slip or awkwardly trim out the yaw. Better yet, just hold a little rudder until your next pass makes things equal again. You won't regret the purchase. Smokin' Hole Smokin' Hole My DCS wish list: Su25, Su30, Mi24, AH1, F/A-18C, Afghanistan ...and frankly, the flight sim world should stop at 1995.
ericinexile Posted March 18, 2007 Posted March 18, 2007 Wild-Bill, Even the Saitek Pedals act as a completely separate controller from the X-52 (they even use different profilers!). I don't think it matters in the least that you are using different brands so long as the throttle matches the stick. Pedals can be whatever you prefer. Aeroscout Posted March 18, 2007 Posted March 18, 2007 Ok, i must be mistaken. thanks. I'll go with CH. (eventually) They look better (Saitek's stuff always looks a little strange. the X52 a rare exception ofcourse.) and are probobly a bit better in qualiity. Sorry, that was "mis-information" on my part. Sorry.... :( DCS Wishlist: 1) FIX THE DAMN RIVERS!!! 2) Spherical or cylindrical panorama view projection. 3) Enhanced input options (action upon button release, etc). 4) Aircraft flight parameter dump upon exit (stick posn, attitude, rates, accel, control volume, control-surface positions, SAS bias, etc). 5) ADS-33 maneuver courses as static objects. 6) Exposed API or exports of trim position and stick force for custom controllers. 7) Select auto multiple audio devices
Wild.Bill.Kelso Posted March 19, 2007 Author Posted March 19, 2007 No Problem Aero.. Well, my new X52 Pro will be arriving today, and I'll be playing with that this week. But I think I'm sold on the CH Pedals. And the price is not too bad either. Thanks guys...

bogusheadbox Posted March 19, 2007 Posted March 19, 2007 Ahhh it looks i am a little too late. I own the siatek pro pedals and they are excelent indeed. If you have not made your purchase yet, you would be foolish not to check these out. they have a wider track than CH pedals and a better feel. I have spoken to many about the pedals and those that have had both prefer the saitek pro pedals. And they are cheaper ;-)
Aeroscout Posted March 19, 2007 Posted March 19, 2007 And they are cheaper ;-) They are? I'm definitally going to consiter them. I always go through extensive anounts of research before i get something, so the saitek ones are definitaly on the list. I'm just leaning towards the CH ones. Wild.Bill.Kelso Posted March 19, 2007 Author Posted March 19, 2007 Well I didn't do an extensive price comparison. But at NextTag.com I remembered that I saw the CH Pedals from $99 and the Saitek from $118.

I locked the twist and setup the pedals as the ruder axis in LOMAC. 100% functional. :) .
VMFA-Blaze Posted March 19, 2007 Posted March 19, 2007 Both of those brand pedals are very good.. But I personally love my Simped's.... These are designed with the metal toe brakes that are modeled after the F-16, F/A-18 pedals.. They have Hall sensors and are extremely accurate... But they're very expensive 350.00 USD.. ~S~ Blaze intel Cor i7-6700K ASUS ROG MAX VIII Extreme G.Skill TridentZ Series 32 GB Samsung 850 Pro 1TB SATA II ASUS GTX 1080/DIRECTX 12 Windows 10 PRO Thrustmaster Warthog Oculus Rift VR
S77th-konkussion Posted March 19, 2007 Posted March 19, 2007 I use the CH's & I highly recommend them. I ended up putting aileron trim on my old X-45 rudder rocker. DOn;t use it all that much- but handy for when you take damage... [sIGPIC]http://forums.eagle.ru/attachment.php?attachmentid=43337&d=1287169113[/sIGPIC]
Wild.Bill.Kelso Posted March 19, 2007 Author Posted March 19, 2007 Well, I took the dive and order the CH Pedals from PCNation.com for $100 including shipping. The order said they were USB/MAC, and several websites I looked at also said the same and did not have System Requirments. But the CH site indicates that the pedals are for both PC and Mac OS. So, I assume the retailer is just not clear on their description. EDIT: This is what the description says on my order: 300-111 PRO RUDDER PEDALS USB MAC OS9 WHEEL ACCS
VMFA-Blaze Posted March 19, 2007 Posted March 19, 2007 It sounds like you should be OK with them.. Wild.Bill.Kelso Posted March 19, 2007 Author Posted March 19, 2007 Sweet! Thanks Rugg. I'm curious why you need to make a special one just for me. Won't the one you use work? Just curious.... PS: About 10 minutes ago I finally figured out a terrible bug that I have been working on in the Toolkit. It's been driving me crazy for about 2 weeks! I am a happy camper today!!! :megalol: Now just waiting on my X52 Pro.
