Hi everyone, i have a system with the following specs:

- I5-7600K@4,8ghz

- MSI Z270-A Pro

- MSI GTX1080 Gaming X

- Crucial 16gb DDR4 2133mhz CL15

- 2xSSD in RAID0 (where DCS is installed)

My monitor is 1440p@60hz

A simple question:

If i change my DDR4 from 2133 to 3000/3200mhz (or more) will i notice any performance improvement?

not worth the cash unless you can sell your old modules for good money.

It is little gain for big money, lemme tell you this. With current prices for RAM I'd grab the one with best price/MHz ratio.

Gigabyte Aorus X570S Master - Ryzen 5900X - Gskill 64GB 3200/CL14@3600/CL14 - Sapphire  Nitro+ 7800XT - 4x Samsung 980Pro 1TB - 1x Samsung 870 Evo 1TB - 1x SanDisc 120GB SSD - Heatkiller IV - MoRa3-360LT@9x120mm Noctua F12 - Corsair AXi-1200 - TiR5-Pro - Warthog Hotas - Saitek Combat Pedals - Asus XG27ACG QHD 180Hz - Corsair K70 RGB Pro - Win11 Pro/Linux - Phanteks Evolv-X

There'll be very little to no noticeable gain from DDR3 onwards with gaming. You'd only really notice the difference if you're heavily into CAD or related things and render times were an important concern.

People obsess over RAM speed lately, particularly overclocking, don't go that route either, unless you enjoy flirting with corrupt data

Long and short of it; DDR4 is a-okay, heck DDR3 would be just fine too.

Which is DDR4 2666 Mhz right now, maybe 3000 too.

He has DDR4 already. And DDR3 really getting outdated as we speak.

Some minor gains in minimum FPS, maybe some gains in maximum FPS.

I'm aware he has 4, DDR3 is not outdated for this application at all. But for modern boards that support DDR4 (and if the build is new that no RAM has been acquired yet) it'd be best to go with DDR4, the price point may even be the same, plus benefit of denser ranks.

Gaming wise, you will not notice the difference. Rendering a complex scene in 3DS Max however, or high definition video editing/rendering; one may experience time savings.

Did I say that DDR3 is outdated or did I say it's getting outdated?
