mr_mojo97 Posted May 21, 2018 Posted May 21, 2018 Why on earth can I not get my Harrier engine to start from cold anymore?? I’ve started it plenty of times in the past using the same procedures, I hear the generator sound and then all goes quiet. Nothing, nada, nowt, bugger all. I can’t see how I’m doing anything different but clearly am somewhere. I had to go for a rest before and massage my temples as it was doing my head in that much. LazyBoot Posted May 21, 2018 Posted May 21, 2018 Make sure you don't bump or otherwise touch the throttle until it's ready to start.
ouPhrontis Posted May 21, 2018 Posted May 21, 2018 If you knock the throttle out of idle, there's an idle/cutoff lock-stop on the throttle, it has a keybinding, set to have the throttle not move out of idle/cutoff detent, or set when beyond idle/cutoff to prevent it moving back into cutoff (not fun in flight). It seems odd at the moment, as it should behave as if sprung loaded, I believe, such that you actuate it to move past the gate, both ways. Speedbrake Posted May 22, 2018 Posted May 22, 2018 Some Switches Changed? One of the last updates changed some of the pre-start switch positions. Are you sure your DEC (digital engine control) switch is in the correct position? Far left side behind your shoulder.
mr_mojo97 Posted May 22, 2018 Author Posted May 22, 2018 I shall check all your suggestions tonight, thanks for all the input chaps. Kang Posted May 22, 2018 Posted May 22, 2018 One odd thing: I've had something similar happen the other day, as a Windows update deleted my controller settings. My old throttle has a bit of jitter, so it needs to have a little deadzone set.
