Griffin-185th Posted June 1, 2018 Posted June 1, 2018 The thread title says it all really. Can I delete the release 2.5 if I have the 2.5 Beta with no ill effects? Are there pitfalls to avoid or folders to save to one side? ED Team BIGNEWY Posted June 1, 2018 ED Team Posted June 1, 2018 Hi yes you can delete if you wish. They are separate installs independent of each other Forum rules - DCS Crashing? eaglecash867 Posted June 1, 2018 Posted June 1, 2018 Yup. They're completely independent of each other. If you have the drive space though, you should keep both so you have something to fall back on if something gets broken in the beta by an update. Gosche Posted June 1, 2018 Posted June 1, 2018 Does it mean, I can have both installed at the same time? (have DCS world 2.5 stable) If yes, should it be on separate drives, or can it be on the same drive? and then select which version to launch. I have bought the F18 and Persian golf map, which cannot be used on the 2.5 stable version, and will of course like to try both :) Kind regards

I currently have 4 different DCS installs on my machine. :) Forum rules - DCS Crashing? Gosche Posted June 1, 2018 Posted June 1, 2018 PS: what happens to the modules I have in 2.5 stable, if installing the beta version?
ED Team BIGNEWY Posted June 1, 2018 ED Team Posted June 1, 2018 PS: what happens to the modules I have in 2.5 stable, if installing the beta version? You install them using the module manager in each install, they will run fine in both. Just bare in mind the Persian Gulf and hornet is only in the beta at the moment. Forum rules - DCS Crashing? Griffin-185th Posted June 2, 2018 Author Posted June 2, 2018 Thanks everyone. I have them on the same drive which is quickly running out of space. I don't suppose I can move it to another drive can I? I'm guessing some work on the registry would be required. Hi you can cut and paste your dcs install to another drive if you wish with no problem. you will need to manually update any shortcuts you have Forum rules - DCS Crashing? Ramsay Posted March 20, 2020 Posted March 20, 2020 how does deactivation and activation work on stable and beta? i plan to uninstall stable.. do i still have to deactivate the modules that are tied to serials? No, most DCS versions share a common CD Key/Hardware ID i.e. they're per machine and one "activation" is valid for stable and beta installs on the same PC. De-activating a module on the stable version, would also deactivate on your beta install. Uninstall stable without deactivating any modules if you plan to run beta or reinstall later, on the same machine. i9 9900K @4.8GHz, 64GB DDR4, RTX4070 12GB, 1+2TB NVMe, 6+4TB HD, 4+1TB SSD, Winwing Orion 2 F-15EX Throttle + F-16EX Stick, TPR Pedals, TIR5, Win 11 Pro x64, Odyssey G93SC 5120X1440
