alado Posted June 3, 2018 Posted June 3, 2018 you dont need a carrier or airport to land or take off with f18, also you can drive like better 4x4. No need up photo or videos its to easy to do.

PeaceSells Posted June 3, 2018 Posted June 3, 2018 I suspect it's an unfinished feature. My DCS modding videos: Modules I own so far: Black Shark 2, FC3, UH-1H, M-2000C, A-10C, MiG-21, Gazelle, Nevada map
SkateZilla Posted June 3, 2018 Posted June 3, 2018 It's not a bug, the F/A-18's Re-Enforced Gear allows it to taxi and land on Runways, Carriers, Roads, Dirt Roads, etc etc etc. Windows 10 Pro, Ryzen 2700X @ 4.6Ghz, 32GB DDR4-3200 GSkill (F4-3200C16D-16GTZR x2), ASRock X470 Taichi Ultimate, XFX RX6800XT Merc 310 (RX-68XTALFD9) 3x ASUS VS248HP + Oculus HMD, Thrustmaster Warthog HOTAS + MFDs
FistofZen Posted June 3, 2018 Posted June 3, 2018 The problem is not the landing gear but it doesn't get stuck in the ground like other planes. You can land with most planes on grass like this but you will get stuck. Am I special?

VFA41_Lion Posted June 3, 2018 Posted June 3, 2018 its not a bug, just the US Navy will be very annoyed if you land their multi-million dollar plane anywhere other than a carrier or airfield if its not an emergency ;)
SkateZilla Posted June 3, 2018 Posted June 3, 2018 (edited) Watch the video, no amount of suspension reinforcement can allow that. It's not an off-road vehicle. I seem to remember several videos of Naval aircraft rolling through soft moist ground. the same ground that killed an F-16C Earlier that Day. It's not only the fact that the gear is re-enforced for carrier landings and beefier, You also have to look at the direction of rotation for the gear, nose rotates counter clockwise down, instead of clockwise to a vertical position, so it will not easily collapse in on itself. Nose and Main Gear Tires are larger and wider, and there are 2.
