BTW on Search and Destroy  2nd f14 have stored alignment disabled.  It allows faster alignment of INS on startup (2min vs 8min)

I'm aware of that. It's alright.

Server News:

Operation Search & Destroy:

- All aircraft (helicopters included) are limited in numbers. I managed to do that with loads and loads of triggers.

- The briefing was rewritten to include more details and an additional briefing image.

- AIM-7M's, -F's and AIM-9L's are available for a total of 12 x Tomacts.

- To counter that Red has 16 x Fulcrums carrying 2 x R-27R's or 2 x R-27T's or 1 x R-27R and 1 x R-27T max.

Server News:

Operation The Desert Has Eyes:

- All aircraft (helicopters included) are limited in numbers.

- The briefing was rewritten to include more details and an additional briefing image.

- C-101's operate from Bandar Lengeh airbase instead of Kish International Airport.

- Su-25's and Su-25T's operate from Bandar Abbas Intl only. However, they have slots available at Qeshm Island airbase and as such a transfer becomes possible.

... and with that, good old friends, the briefing texts of all the currently online missions (12 missions) were rewritten in greater detail with briefing images added to some.

Some fixes and mainly optimisations were also made.

- The to-do list looks better now.

- Work on the new mission has resumed.

Note:

The old briefings are still valid and available in the the second and third posts of this thread.

Any way to check stats for this server? I'm very curious to see whether that plane I shot today could have been friendly...

Great server Alpenwolf!

The way I do it is through tacview. A great tool. You can also watch the replay file as it is saved in the multiplayer folder for tracks.

Ah, that's even better! Most servers block tacview so I didn't even check if it worked with yours. Great server Alpenwolf!

There's that 10 minutes delay though as The_tau just reminded me of. Which is why I stay around for additional 10 minutes before I leave the server, unless the server rotates and thus the last minutes are unfortunately lost.

Operation: Homs

Situation:

Red Airbases: Bassel Al-Assad, Hama and FARP Torba
Blue Airbases: Beirut-Rafic Hariri, Wujah Al Hajar, Rene Mouawad and Al Qusayr

During the late hours of last night Blue ground forces launched an invasion from Lebanon crossing the Lebanese-Syrian border, and managed to capture and hold a Syrian airbase by the name of Al Qusayr just 14 km (8,6 miles) northeast of the borderline.

Blue Abrams tanks backed by allied Chieftains and together with a number of APC's are currently holding Al Qusayr Airbase, protected by IR SAM's and Vulcans. Blue commanders seek to advance even further north (preferably flanking the city of Homs and avoiding a street fight against Red RPG soldiers) to get to a vital Red FARP by the town of Ar Rastan - bullseye - (see image). The town of Ar Rastan is located midway between the two major cities of Homs and Hama. Capturing and holding the Red FARP by the town of Ar Rastan cuts off urgent supplies for Red ground forces at Homs coming from the city of Hama. Achieving that would make it easier for Blue to besiege Homs while stopping Red reinforcements.
There are 6 road outposts around Homs (see image) Blue strikers must destroy. Each road outpost is protected by Red tanks and/or BMP's.

Furthermore, Blue helicopters were transferred from Beirut-Rafic Hariri Airbase to Al Qusayr Airbase to provide CAS for Blue ground forces.

Blue wins if they hold Al Qusayr Airbase (already captured during the invasion at night), destroy all 6 road outposts and capture the Red FARP by the town of Ar Rastan.

Red wins if they hold their FARP and recapture Al Qusayr Airbase.
(Losing the road outposts is not critical, but vital for Blue to destroy)

=====================================================================================

RED Objectives:

*** We must defend our FARP Torba and liberate Al Qusayr Airbase! ***

MiG's and L-39's:

- Provide CAP around the city of Homs, 45 km south of Hama Airbase.
- Provide escort for friendly strikers wherever needed.
- Note that the enemy has AA's at Al Qusayr Airbase (bullseye) so watch your distance.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Ka-50's and Mi-24's:

- Destroy enemy ground units anywhere between Al Qusayr Airbase (bullseye) and our FARP Torba.

Ka-50's ABRIS Waypoints:
Waypoint-1 is FARP Torba.
Waypoint-2 is the centre of the city of Homs.
Waypoint-3 is Al Qusayr Airbase (captured by the enemy).

Mi-24's Waypoints:
Waypoint-1 is the centre of the city of Homs.
Waypoint-2 is Al Qusayr Airbase (captured by the enemy).
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Mi-8's:

Deploy reinforcements wherever needed the most. Contact the GCI operator if available and provide your assistance.

Mi-8's -> Picking up crates:
Bring up your radio menu, select F10 for CTLD and then whatever type of crates you want to pick up.

*** You can only pick up one crate at a time - A total of 36 crates ***

For picking up a crate, maintain hover over it for 5 seconds while keeping an altitude of at least 7.5 meters and a maximum altitude of 15 meters.

To unpack a crate, make sure you're at least 5 km away from the FARP you started at.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Combined Arms:

The 2 cmdr slots are for players controlling ground units while being on SRS with each other and other players to coordinate their attacks.
You MUST be on SRS as a cmdr operator!
You can use the JTAC slot to drive a ground unit. However, that requires you being on comms with cmdr operators to avoid confusion and/or causing problems to their attacks.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Frequencies:

EWR / GCI: 124 MHz - Channel 0 for MiG-21's and L-39's. Channel 2 for MiG-19's. Mi-24's R-863 - Channel 0

Server News:

*** Helicopters Tournament 12 will go online next weekend. A few slots are still open for signups!

- Operation Kiryat Shmona is offline. Instead, the new mission, operation Homs goes online and debuts tonight around 1900 zulu.

- Work on a new mission in the Caucasus map has started.

- The new mission will focus on the early stages of the Cold War era; Probably 1947-1960.

- Perhaps guns ONLY! Not sure still.

- No Viggens. No Su-25's. No A-10's. No Harriers. No Fulcrums. No Tomcats. No UH-1's. No Mi-8's. (Wish we had the Mi-2/4/6 and their counterparts).

- No IR SAM's.

- The Shilka and the Vulcan seem to be very old vehicles. I will have to investigate and see what SAM sites fit well in the scenario.

- With more WWll assets becoming free, it will be either T-55's or German tanks vs Shermans. The German tanks should simulate T-34's.

- WWll APC's as well.

- Flaks will be included.

- Basically, any WWll free Combined Arms asset will be included.

- Red operates from Senaki-Kolkhi and Blue operates from Sochi. Winner is he who captures and holds Gudauta and Sukhumi-Babushara.

- The I-19 and the P-51 will be included.

- There will be MiG-21's and F-5's in small numbers. However, a bit more F-5's than MiG-21's to balance it out with MiG-19's included.

- Get used to your Fagot and Sabre, I suppose.

- No helicopters as mentioned above, so obviously no CTLD operations. Deal with whatever ground units you have and there will be enough for both sides.

- Bombers might be included. As always it depends on the story line of the mission so we'll see.

- RPG troopers (despite their fancy blue hats and modern uniforms) will also be included.

- If you have any ideas, please share them. That doesn't mean they're instantly included though, but I will investigate them as it always is the case.

Regarding LotATC - there are apparently ways to restrict it to GCI slots only, I'm told? Might be worth looking into.

Even if there isn't, to be honest, I feel like people being able to run it on a second screen isn't that big of a deal. Consider that we don't have enough GCI slots (let alone actual GCIs) to perform the real practice of one controller per element, plus the delay and lack of more specific info (type, player ID, etc.) - I don't think it'd have a particularly negative impact, and human GCIs should be focusing more on strategy than just basic callouts anyway. The bonus of human GCI not being able to micromanage to an absurd degree (and people not being able to prioritise aircraft by specific type or know who they're going into a merge with) would more than offset any issues, IMO.

As it stands, about half the experienced GCIs we have usually have to wear two hats by doing CA stuff as well, let alone trying to manage 20+ aircraft instead of a flight of 2.

I hear you, mate. The very reason why I tried to implement this tool but for whatever reason it simply didn't work. I gave up on it, is all. I don't see why it's not working.

Some issues with the Hueys in "Homs":

Second Huey slot has no access to CTLD.

First Huey slot did not spawn a helicopter after first user had left the slot. I always sat in the open when choosing the slot and spawing.

The first has been reported already. thanks.

The second means all 12 x UH-1's were lost.

BTW in Search and Destroy second F14, doesnt have fast alignment enabled while first does. Can you decide ? :D. Secondly for F14 fighter2 Fighter datalink, f14s have to be in same flight in mission editor to make it work

"Can I decide"? You don't think it's rather a mistake? Will be fixed.

The datalink is disabled still. Will be added in the future. Waiting on something we might get in one if the upcoming updates.

Some thoughts on some missions:

"Once upon a time in Abu Dhabi" and "Five points" are pure helicopter / tank races. I don't know how other users feel about this, but I for one don't like that particular element of the mission very much. The one who starts up and flies the fastest/gets his tanks to the targets first usually wins these missions. It encourages helicopter pilots to despawn immediately once they have dropped their cargo and respawn with a new helicopter, because it takes longer to fly back than just throw away a helicopter and take a new one. I've seen that quite often on Tacview.

"Homs" seems to be interesting, but I don't think having the MiG-21s and MiG-19s depart from Hama AB is a good thing. When it was on for the first time, the 19s and 21s swarmed the AO while no F-5s were in sight, and I witnessed some blue players leaving frustrated. I suggest restricting the 19s and 21s to Bassel Al-Assad and Abu al-Duhur.
