Dave317 Posted June 8, 2018 Posted June 8, 2018 The noise in the cockpit seems strange to me but obviously could be realistic. There is a chuffing noise that sounds like a steady steam train once the APU is started. The noise then continues all the time. Anyone know what this noise is?
Nosferatuwhisky 1-1 Posted June 8, 2018 Posted June 8, 2018 Well, you've got the APU running during start up, then the bleedair once the engines are running, so its likely that. "Chops"
Dave317 Posted June 8, 2018 Author Posted June 8, 2018 I've just checked again and it makes the noise as soon as you turn the batteries on. It's quite feint to start with but gets a lot louder.
bradleyjs Posted June 8, 2018 Posted June 8, 2018 It’s likely the DC -> AC inverters making the noise. Inside military aircraft it’s really very noisy. Dave317 Posted June 8, 2018 Author Posted June 8, 2018 Weirdly it's just stopped doing it now. Problem with my soundcard maybe.
ARM505 Posted June 8, 2018 Posted June 8, 2018 I found the sounds really good. Distinct and accurate sounds for avionics, cockpit air con, wind noise, APU noise, engine noise....really great. If I did want to complain, it would be that even though I have 'helmet sounds' ticked, it doesn't sound like I'm wearing a helmet, which would dull the higher frequencies of the wind noise and cockpit environmental air sounds (heard when recycling bleed air sources from on to on with engines running after start).
Flia Posted June 8, 2018 Posted June 8, 2018 Cockpit noise is right. Check some youtbe videos from Hornet cokcpit and you will heat exactly same sound. Eldur Posted June 8, 2018 Posted June 8, 2018 In the real thing the sounds don't get normalized depending on what you hear though :P It's pain in the ears to hear the ECS and avionics audio volume go down as soon as you pull some Gees and wind / air flow sounds from outside come up or even just when the deedle-deedle is being heard. This is an engine issue though. Let it be loud!
