Cskelly Posted June 11, 2018 Posted June 11, 2018 I didn't want to hijack another thread on this topic. So basically I can't really make out the ball until 1/2 to 3/4 of a mile without zooming in, is that normal?. I adjusted my gamma to 1.6. My screen res is 1680x1050, 32" monitor.
=OPS=Slider Posted June 11, 2018 Posted June 11, 2018 I think this might be an issue of our resolution. I know because Ive got the same res. Just go to YouTube and notice that even cockpit looks sharper in 1080p.
_e10 Posted June 11, 2018 Posted June 11, 2018 Yup, same here. 2k resolution. Would be nice to have a little "cheat" overlay which you can enable like the controls overlay (ctrl+enter) which shows you the ball.

ARM505 Posted June 11, 2018 Posted June 11, 2018 (edited) I play on 4K and it's still hard to see, or mostly impossible without a lot of zoom. So it's not going to be improved by upping resolution to anything currently practical. Also, inb4 'But you should only be in the groove at max 3/4 mile only anyway, so no worries' :D Some nostalgia: Jane's F18 from the year 2000 had a zoomed in IFLOLS view in a separate window when in the groove: Edited June 11, 2018 by ARM505
lemoen Posted June 11, 2018 Posted June 11, 2018 You have to zoom. IRL vision is closest ito resolution per pixel as fully (or nearly fully) zoomed in.
FistofZen Posted June 11, 2018 Posted June 11, 2018 Yeah, you zoom in and then you don't see your speed, your E bracket nor the FPM anymore. Am I special?
Cskelly Posted June 12, 2018 Author Posted June 12, 2018 Yep, I have been using zoom as well. It makes it a little more touchy. Played around with different graphic settings as well.

Am on 1920x1080p resolution and I get to spot the ball when close to the deck end and at this point I almost cannot apply any control input. I more or less do not use the ball in all my successful carrier landing. If I have to zoom in, data symbols on the HUD would be out of view. I just try to focus on centerline, ball and AOA indexer - continual scan.
WildBillKelsoe Posted June 12, 2018 Posted June 12, 2018 If overlay should be implemented, I suggest it has the limits in the navy video circa 1950s. No point in having FLOLS if you can see it above limits. AWAITING ED NEW DAMAGE MODEL IMPLEMENTATION FOR WW2 BIRDS Fat T is above, thin T is below. Long T is faster, Short T is slower.
