rattler
We are looking for software that will allow the .lom files to be extracted and edited to .3ds. It must support animation, texture and geometry mapping. We have one we are checking on now. If someone knows of any software that will do this, I have great news. Walmis will finish the F15 model but he needs this software to do so. If anyone has any info PM me or Super so we can check it out. It will be payware but this does not matter right now so pass along any info pls. Cheers.
sp0nge
Have you posted on any 3d model specific forums? If you haven't, I will. Is breaking the laws of gravity illegal? [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
SuperKungFu
you might want to mention in there that the software we are looking into is http://www.zmodeler2.com/ 1 [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
christopher m
Zmodeler2 > 3ds Max I've tried it allready. You can open .lom files with Zmodeler2 but you when you export the file to .3ds it comes out jumbled, not usable in 3ds Max. I don't know if there is a fix. I tried to export the files to 3ds Max 7.0 with the lomac addons. Regards, [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Christopher M
rattler
Have you posted on any 3d model specific forums? If you haven't, I will. Great Need all the help we can get. Remember to ask that the software has to convert .lom without lose of animation and be able to do texture and geometry mapping. If we can find the software the model will be completed by Walmis. Appreciate any help you can give.
walmis
rattler, it's texture mapping, not geometry mapping :-)

If we can get software that exports .lom without lose of animation and can do texture and geometry mapping then Walmis can finish the Model. Got to be something somewhere or some sort of work around. I am not a modder so I rely on you guys to give us a hand at finding what software we need. Keep it up get people you know looking too. Appreciate any efforts you can do for us. Super is the main man. I try to do the leg work looking for help where I can find it. I don't know the 3d sites that you people use so I have to try and get people like you involved in finding the software we need. Everything else is in place. Cheer and Good Luck. SuperKungFu
To Christopher M Could you tell me what did you mean by "jumbled?" I know the software could import .lom but can't export .lom. The .lom exported from that, in theory, should have worked for 3dmax. Are you sure there isn't any specific setting we're suppose to check off before the converting process? Regardless, could you try importing the latest walmis model again and host the resulted file in .3ds on a site like yousendit.com. It may not have worked with 3dmax7, but maybe 3dmax8 will. 7rooper
What's the output file after the conversion? is it a *.max or *.3ds? is it binary or not? try to to open it with the notepad and if there's some legible text then it's possible for max to open it. Why doesn't whoever can make the conversion from the *.lom file upload it so we can work around with it and see what can be done. SuperKungFu
hey guys, i need your help. I want to ask Oleg from the zmodeler forum to test for himself if it can be converted. Do i just simple send him the F-15.lom in C:\Program Files\Ubisoft\Eagle Dynamics\Lock On\Bazar\World\Shapes folder? Because walmis did a lot updates, and im not entirely sure which files are required to set up it in zmodeler and 3dmax. 1 [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]

SuperKungFu
alright i sent a PM to Oleg along with the F-15.lom file to see if he can convert it. So far, we know that animation may be lost during the coverting process, but as long as texture mapping is still intact we should be ok. christopher m
Zmodeler2 > 3ds Max Superkungfu and 7rooper, Zmodeler opens .lom files very efficiently. I have opened big files like f-18a.lom, the frame opens fine. The problem lies in that Zmodeler2 tries to open all the texture, .tga and .bmp files associated with the .lom file but cannot find them even though I specify the location of the folders with the texture files. I think all the texture files specified by the .lom file must be UNPACKED from their CDDS compressed form and made available to Zmodeler2 so that the .lom file being IMPORTED into Zmodeler2 gets fully IMPORTED. After you import the file you can save it as .z3d file. You can then open it and export to .3ds file. This would probably work for the wilmas f15 if he has all the specified texture files unpacked in a specific folder for Zmodeler2 to use for textures. Hope you guy's understand what I just tried to layout. Sorry I hav'nt had time to unpack all the CDDS files in LOMAC and test my idea. Do any of you want to try it ? PM me [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Christopher M

Even I can understand it and I know nothing about modding. Hope Super or 7rooper get back to you. It sounds like Walmis will be able to finish if what you just explained can be done. A little fiddling around with files in order to work on them but you can get them. Great news. Thanks, very appreciated.cheers

christopher m
Zmodeler2 > 3ds Max SuperKungFu, 7rooper and Walmis More information for you since you are hot on this now. When I save the .lom file to .z3d format Zmodeler2 re-names the texture files that it could not find since it is saving them in an edited form. I guess Zmodeler2 must save something in place of nothing for the missing files ? When I re-open the file in it's .z3d form then EXPORT it to .3ds form the operation has no reported problems. When I try to IMPORT the .3ds (3D Studio Mesh) file into 3ds Max 7 (sp1) I get "improper file format" error. A few months ago, when I was playing with the su25t model I was able to open a jumbeled up image, I do not seem to be able to do that now ? Thats all for now. Is there a way I can download the Walmis model and the associated texture files ? I would like to try and see if I can IMPORT it into 3ds Max 7.
