I've been recording videos recently and noticed some really bad shadow pop on aircraft, even with shadows set to high. What I mean by "pop" is the shadows are not rendered on the aircaft, and then when the aircraft gets within a certain distance the shadows suddenly "pop" into existence.

I initially thought this was because I had shadows set to medium, but even at high settings this still happens. Is it affected by visible range, or is the "pop" distance the same regardless of settings?

I'd like this changed aswell. Like, double the distance the shadows on aircraft are rendered. It's especially noticable on the engine air intakes.

Yeah that's what I noticed when filming touch and go's. I placed the F11 free camera right at my TD point on the runway, and noticed that the shadows don't render on the aircraft until it crosses the threshold of the runway, which is what, less than 2000' away from the TD point?

It appears like there is some masking (layers) that are enabled/disabled, flying low less than 50 mteres I get no shadow then sometimes partial shadow and at others complete shadow. it just seems like the mask layer(s) for the aircraft shadow(s) are maybe not displayed in the correct order and are over written by other elements.

For me I'm not sure the visible range makes any difference for shadows but I'm using VR and shadows are flat.

Control is an illusion which usually shatters at the least expected moment.

Gazelle Mini-gun version is endorphins with rotors. See above.

I guess this is a bug of some sort? Notice the thread has been moved.

I've also seen the partial shadows, especially when taxiing. I may see the shadow of a wing-tip missile, but not the wing itself.

From external views it's not all that noticeable from wide angles, but when zoomed it's awful. You can see the pop in this vid at around 3:56.
