baltic_dragon Posted July 2, 2018 Author Posted July 2, 2018 I noticed that four enemy tanks simply forded the river, bypassing the bridge, and the mission failed before I landed back the first time... Too difficult... I will add some safeguards to that, AI sometimes ignores the hold order it gets when the bridge gets destroyed.. though they shouldn’t be able to cross, obviously. Ramsay Posted July 14, 2018 Posted July 14, 2018 (edited) I will add some safeguards to that, AI sometimes ignores the hold order it gets when the bridge gets destroyed.. though they shouldn’t be able to cross, obviously. I've played the mission a few more times in SP and MP and come to understand the mechanism by which "RU Tank Platoon" T-72B's ignore their hold order. The T-72B's respect the hold order (bridge destroyed flag FL100) until coming under fire (from player, AI Blue or AI Red (friendly fire)), • at which point they "disperse under fire" • after the default ten minute time out they resume their normal mission • but proceed to waypoint DP i.e. cross the river, rather than returning to WP3 It doesn't matter if it's early or late in the game, once attacked, if the T-72B's have 10 minutes respite between attack runs - they will cross the river and win the mission for Redfor. Edit: Disabling "Disperse under fire" at 'WP3' - didn't work but some settings effect the next leg of a route and adding 'Disperse under fire = off' to the first waypoint 'SP' instead, worked in Single Player and MP, need play some more to be 100% certain but it's looking fixed. Edited July 22, 2018 by Ramsay Disabled 'Disperse under fire' for the whole route 'SP' ->. i9 9900K @4.8GHz, 64GB DDR4, RTX4070 12GB, 1+2TB NVMe, 6+4TB HD, 4+1TB SSD, Winwing Orion 2 F-15EX Throttle + F-16EX Stick, TPR Pedals, TIR5, Win 11 Pro x64, Odyssey G93SC 5120X1440
baltic_dragon Posted July 15, 2018 Author Posted July 15, 2018 Thanks! I wasn’t aware that dispersal under fire would cancel the HOLD order, but when you think about it i- that actually makes sense. ZeroReady Posted July 28, 2018 Posted July 28, 2018 OK so I finally got the chance to play the mission with a friend, we had a blast. The explosion and collapse of the bridge is awesome flying over from a wingmans perspective. But we had a couple issues. 1. Uzi took off and orbited after we killed the Shilkas, but never responded to radio calls. 2. After landing and reloading, I could not get my mavericks to come online. Really fun mission though, thank you!

Istari6 Posted March 18, 2022 Posted March 18, 2022 Baltic Dragon, A big thanks for this mission! My friend and I are learning the Harrier, and this mission has become our perfect "Advanced Training" test before we tackle campaigns. We've now flown it multiple times, and we're loving the FARP-based turnarounds, the tenseness of defending the Georgians, and the variety of tactical challenges under real time pressure. Probably the best single mission I've played in over 5 years of DCS. 1
Shibbyland Posted July 19, 2023 Posted July 19, 2023 Ah, it's coop, that explains why I haven't been able to beat it single player. I've taken to way overloading the harrier for FOB operations and just taking a run up down the middle of the FOB to take off. At one point I damaged the nose gear but just flew the mission with it hanging out. My best so far is to destroy the bridge, destroy the AAA, destroy two of the tanks holding at the destroyed bridge, strafe and rocket run infantry and kill one of the amphibious armored vehicles fording the river. I always lose when the armored vehicles cross the river, I need to rearm too much and don't have the loiter time to carry enough weapons to get them all even with massive overloading. Cool mission tho. 1
keeps Posted April 20, 2024 Posted April 20, 2024 (edited) i also would like to say im enjoying this mission alot. Been playing it solo many times just for fun, so it feels less spur of the moment and pressured now but still enjoying the verticle landings, AA, varied targets etc. Last night i did something like this and achieved more in the mission than before.. I start by loading up 2 extra irmavs (4 total), swapped the tpod to a gun.. Shoot the bridge and the two nearby tanks with irmavs, use the sidewinders to get the 2shilkas, and the last mav for the incoming amphibious platoon.. They will then stop.. Go back to FOB and reload/refuel 40%.. swap out the sidewinders for 2xaim9, 4 more irmavs, and gun.. take off and get any remaining vehicles (shilkas if sidewinders missed, and couple tanks) nearby the bridge with the ir mavs, the choppers will then be incoming.. take them out with the aim-9's and gun, and use any remaining mavs on the remaining amphibious platoon.. go back and reload.. third reload i refuel and brought 4 irmavs again (have you noticed i like irmavs?) and this time 2xAG 500bl laser guided bombs. Yes one can take off from a farp with all that! I couldnt get the bombs to work with uzi, i think i upset them as they marked targets and ignored last round. And i forgot the tpod so useless.. I noticed the 10 min cooldown behaviour after shooting a platoon, so this time shoot a tank from the incoming east woodland to halt them, and use the remaining mavs to finish the now closely approaching amphibious platoon. Went back for the final reload to finish the incoming tanks, and fumbled the landing lol I would have needed 3 irmavs to finish the incoming tanks, and then theres a group of about 15 tanks stationed about 5 miles east... idk what i'll do about them but we will see soon ive had great fun with this mission 10/10. its a shame i cant have an ai wingman.
