To ignite the afterburners on the hornet you have to lift the finger lifts on the throttle while pushing it to maximum.

Without doing that it just goes full mil power.

(was added last patch)

If you want to go from burner to mil power just deactivate finger lifts (assuming you have it on a switch or key unless your throttle has finger lifts like the real one) and take the throttle back for a split second out of burner and then back to 100%.

cheers

Assign a switch to your finger lift on the throttle. Activate this before maxing your throttle (or, if your throttle is already at max, activate switch and move throttle back slightly then forward). I think that you can also go to the special options page and disable the finger lift business, but not sure about this.

Regarding the AB detent - I haven't seen any animation in the cockpit (around the throttle, anyway) that shows if the detent is on or off. Other than trying to remember when I last clicked the AB detent key, is there a way to determine if the detent is set or not, other than pushing the throttle to the stops and looking at the fuel flow/nozzle position on the IFEI to figure if you're using AB?

Thanks.

There is a way to tell, look very closely where the base of the right throttle quadrant goes into the fod brush. There is a small latch that animates up and down.

I think you're referring to the Throttle Finger Lift, which you would use if wanting to use the AB on the carrier catapult (and yes, I can see that animation, as you describe). I'm talking about the Cycle Afterburner Detent, which was a recent addition to the F/A-18C controls.

When I hit that key, I don't see anything animated/lights, and it's in the Throttle Quadrant category.

That key can has nothing to animate. It is only there for HOTAS system you use if it doesn't have a detent.

In real life there are finger lifts you have to use to go AB.

You can bind the finger lifts to your HOTAS. Going full on your throttle will go up to MIL power. Pressing finger lifts bind and full on your throttle will go AB. At that time you have animation of the finger lifts.
