Lord of War Posted July 3, 2018 Posted July 3, 2018 hey folks i have a question about the avisory system i thought it operates pretty much the same as the caution system; once something happens that needs your attention it is displayed on the LDDI and as soon as the caution/advisory has been handled the caution/advisory is removed from the LDDI now here is what i don't understand: once all cautions have bean dealt with the caution window is removed and this part of the screen is no longer blocked but this doesn't apply to the advisories. if all advisories are removed the ADV- and its window are still displayed and the window still blocks the LDDI rendering some information (like AOA in the FCS page) useless. so my question is: is this how the ADV-System operates in the real plane, it seems quite stupid to block some part of the LDDI for no reason. i've done some research but i couldnt find anything on theis topic in the NATOPS manual and looking for pictures and videos with clearly visible LDDIs didn't workout that well. any kind of explanation is appreciated (sorry for any grammar mistakes)
HawkDCS Posted July 3, 2018 Posted July 3, 2018 I don't think it should block anything. The advisory system is very Beta still like the rest of the AC. My understanding is it should restack and not take up so much of the DDI but it doesn't seem to do that yet. Rig: 5960X @ 4.5GHZ 32GB 3000Mhz DDR4 Titan XP Dell 3415W 21:9 Thrustmaster Warthog
QuiGon Posted July 3, 2018 Posted July 3, 2018 The adviseray messages are very buggy at the moment. They often don't disappear when they should. Intel i7-12700K @ 8x5GHz+4x3.8GHz + 32 GB DDR5 RAM + Nvidia Geforce RTX 2080 (8 GB VRAM) + M.2 SSD + Windows 10 64Bit DCS Panavia Tornado (IDS) really needs to be a thing!
GOAE Posted July 4, 2018 Posted July 4, 2018 Yep, that is how the ADV operates in the real F-18. There are quite a few youtube videos that reflect this, and another discussion topic somewhere else on the forums that confirms it as well. Here's an example video: It's a little hard to see, but you should see that anything on the LDDI's HUD that passes through the ADV line is obscured. The LDDI will always have the bottom line reserved on the DDI, blanking out anything behind it even if there's barely any text on that ADV line. If the LDDI is not functional that same line will move to the MPCD, and if the MPCD is not functional the line moves to the RDDI.

backspace340 Posted July 4, 2018 Posted July 4, 2018 Wags answered this recently here: https://forums.eagle.ru/showpost.php?p=3549868&postcount=7 Answer is yes, it's realistic.
HawkDCS Posted July 4, 2018 Posted July 4, 2018 (edited) I know this is a movie but seems to have been shot in a real 18 cockpit. If you go to 2:10 you can see the major warnings covering the ADI. ${1} Edited July 4, 2018 by HawkDCS Rig: 5960X @ 4.5GHZ 32GB 3000Mhz DDR4 Titan XP Dell 3415W 21:9 Thrustmaster Warthog
Lord of War Posted July 4, 2018 Author Posted July 4, 2018 thanks for the answers everyone. its sad to hear that this is actually realistic, someone at mcdonnell douglas must have been very special to design the adv system like this.
Lord of War Posted July 4, 2018 Author Posted July 4, 2018 nevermind everyone someone just posted an assessment of the DCS Hornet by a real hornet pilot at 16 he states that the ADV- should vanish if no advisories are displayed https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=214849

Lord of War Posted July 4, 2018 Author Posted July 4, 2018 sorry no idea, this advisory is not in the natops manual so maybe its something weapon/sensor related
ED Team cofcorpse Posted July 4, 2018 ED Team Posted July 4, 2018 sometimes I have BLTN advisory, what is that? Are you sure it is "BLTN" exactly? Could you provide a screenshot?
