For the last 2 months there's been more and more bugs popping up related to AI and ME. They've been reported on the forums, but haven't been fixed. Instead, new ones came. Currently, mission making is pointless, and existing missions don't work as they should.

 

1) checkboxes missing from Search then engage/ search then engage in zone for various AI tasks, such as CAS:

2) Late activated units just go dumb and ignore everything they were told in ME:

These 2 alone are enough to ruin every half-complex mission, but:

 

3) lately I've noticed that sometimes ground and air units just don't spawn even though they have to be there from the beginning of the mission. These happen randomly, so when I hit refly, they're there. Or not. Hard to reproduce.

 

4) Unit inside zone/ moving zone seems to be broken too. Actions are triggered sometimes randomly well before an unit is near the trigger zone. Or not.

 

Again, these 2 seem random,so I'm not going to attach any missions. I don't want to share them yet. I can send it privately to ED members if needed.

 

All this makes mission making pointless, and the lack of attention for the last months is very, very disappointing. It doesn't only prevent the creation of new content, but makes payware campaigns unplayable, which is a shame, considering the amount of work invested in them.

 

Please, ED, Please...make mission making possible again. :(

I checked again after the update, and late activated units still ignore everything. I'm flabbergasted. This is not just a nice to have feature that's not working. This renders all payware DLC campaigns, and basically anything more complex than a 4v4 airstart quick mission unplayable. That's like a dozen payware products that don't work at all. How can such a massive bug be ignored for so long? :(

Can you attach the mission of that? I'm unable to replicate the late activation bug. I grabbed the mission of the BF-109 given tasking to orbit from the other thread but its working as it should.

Can you attach the mission of that? I'm unable to replicate the late activation bug. I grabbed the mission of the BF-109 given tasking to orbit from the other thread but its working as it should.

 

The spawned 109 orbits right away? That's weird. It flies straight for me. I can send you some missions but only privately for undisclosed reasons. It happens to every single mission I made.

 

Is it possible that only my ME is bugged? If that is so, what is the solution? Should I reinstall DCS from scratch? Are you using the latest OpenBeta or some more advanced testers' version?

Well it doesn't turn immediately because its been given a racetrack orbit instead of a circle. So it is just going to fly to the next waypoint, do a left turn and fly back to start, do a left turn fly to the first waypoint, and repeat. I changed it to a circle and it starts turning immediately.

 

I tested it on the release branch. Didn't even update to openbeta or anything yet.

Thanks, I'll definitely test when I get home. If for some reason it's only bugged for me, what do you suggest I do? Should I reinstall DCS from scratch?

 

I get the problem with late activated bomber formations too. The leader follows its waypoints, but the rest, who don't have waypoints just a task to fly in a WW2 bomber formation simply turn away.

Formations might be a little different for behavior. I haven't used it with late activation before, so I don't know if there might be issues there.

 

I don't know how an error like that can occur on one PC and not another. If you'd want to reinstall, that is your call.

Well I know AI given no waypoints will just RTB, but the big formation tasking is a "Perform Task" which should force them to join the formation before they reach the end of their tasks at WP1. Perhaps just enough time passes to make it a problem, or there is enough AI.

It should, but it's not the case anymore. As soon as I give them a WP1, without any additional tasks, regardless where it is, it works again. Too bad I have to revise many of my missions now, but at least there IS a solution. :thumbup:

Just wanted to bring this thread back to life to emphasise how important it is fixing these bugs, especially the first two. Please, keep us updated. The late activation issue was reported exactly two months ago, and it's still causing big problems in dynamic missions.

I may have just learned something here! :) Grimes, your link to Mission Editor Wiki in your 'signature' seems to be broken. Is there such a wiki or user manual that explains the purpose and usage of all the Advanced Waypoint Options/functions? Such as Orbit: You mean the racetrack pattern will stretch between current waypoint and next waypoint? And scripting: there's another whole world I know nothing about. :) I'll try to look around the ME Forum as well. Thanks.
