I was doing some computer tweaks over the weekend to hunt down another issue. Along the way, I had turned on the taskbar on all monitors option. I had it on once before, not sure why I turned it off.

Today, I wanted to do some carrier traps, but when launching Oculus my desktop was locked up, and the CPU spiked up to 60%. To save you the boring details what I did to chase it down, I discovered that the Rift Core 2.0 beta does not like multiple taskbars. So if you experience higher than normal CPU use with the Oculus software and you have multiple taskbars enabled, try disabling them. See screenshot below. To get to that, right click on the taskbar and open taskbar settings.

Have you tried setting Oculus Home to run as admin? That way it won’t start when DCS starts.

Not the issue here, I discovered a potential bug with the software and decided to share. I frequently use the desktop stuff while in Rift, so I need the software running...

The last beta of Oculus Home Rift Core 2.0, which is now pushed out to the release channel, apparently disabled that ability, at least as I understand it.

I believe it still can be done in Oculus Home 1.0.

Solution:

Just don't use the core 2.0.

Again, I use the features included in the core 2.0. Your post adds no value to the topic. I posted a potential solution to higher cpu usage for those with multiple monitors, if that doesn't pertain to you then move along.

I posted a possible solution, too?

That was not evident from your first post, which stated that you just wanted to do some carrier traps, and encountered a problem.

I was just trying to help.

I gave the thread title the [solution] for a reason. I solved the problem I was experiencing. I shared what caused the a problem so others who may have the same configuration. I no longer had problem when I shared this information.

By adding “don’t use it or run as admin” so it doesn’t launch isn’t a solution. There are some out there that use the core 2.0 to access the desktop while under the rift. This thread was for them.

My point was that it is a solution, if all you want to do is do some carrier traps in DCS and you have a problem with Oculus Home.

It is not a solution if you want to use Oculus Home, while doing your carrier traps, which wasn’t obvious to me, when reading your post.

I have now deleted my earlier posts in this thread.

I was only trying to help.
