Aeroscout Posted May 2, 2007 Posted May 2, 2007 Yes, and it will hardly cost you any thing. Materials required: 4 rubber bands and a X-52 (obviously) I dont know if any one has tried this yet, so sorry if this is a repost, but I was tired if the loose, easy to move feel of the X52 and wanted to make it a bit "stiffer." I then got the Insperation to place rubber bands over the black disk that the spring presses up against. They are arranged an an X, 2 going horisontally and two vertically over the disk. (one rubber band has to go between the 2nd and 3rd toggle switches) and it does definitally stiffen the stick up. it doesn't look prety, but you dont really look at your stick durring flight, do you? Sorry guys, no pics right now. i'll get them in a day or two BTW, make sure the rubber bands are as close as they can be to the spring in the middle of the disk. They tend to slip off other wise. :joystick: DCS Wishlist: 1) FIX THE DAMN RIVERS!!! 2) Spherical or cylindrical panorama view projection. 3) Enhanced input options (action upon button release, etc). 4) Aircraft flight parameter dump upon exit (stick posn, attitude, rates, accel, control volume, control-surface positions, SAS bias, etc). 5) ADS-33 maneuver courses as static objects. 6) Exposed API or exports of trim position and stick force for custom controllers. 7) Select auto multiple audio devices
Talon_300th Posted May 2, 2007 Posted May 2, 2007 Hehe, very innovative ;) One small step for virual pilots... one giant leap for rubber bands! Aeroscout Posted May 3, 2007 Author Posted May 3, 2007 Thanks Talon I just tried it out in online combat. I didn't do so well,(which is usual) but the rubber bands definitally give it a better, more realistic feal. A very good, cheep mod for those X52 users who don't want to go out and by an X52Pro. Poopskadoop Posted May 3, 2007 Posted May 3, 2007 Aye, having a bit of trouble picturing how it's all fastened, but I'm definitely interested. I know Pilotasso uses a sort of rubber disk (right?), but I couldn't ever dig up something like that around the house, so rubber bands would be a great alternative.
SuperKungFu Posted May 3, 2007 Posted May 3, 2007 That plastic thing can be found whenever you buy those cd cases, its the white thing that sits on top of the cds and same here, i can't exactly picture where the rubber bands would go. If it could work alongside with this mod then it would be great. the stronger the better. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
Poopskadoop Posted May 3, 2007 Posted May 3, 2007 Last stack of CDs I bought had some sort of plastic thing. I'll have to hunt around for a stack that has a rubber one. Thanks.

BlitZ_SWE Posted May 3, 2007 Posted May 3, 2007 Something like this? Hey AeroScout! Take a look at mine I did a few months ago. Its really great because it is variable hence you just but on as much rubberbands as you want or put thicker/thinner ones on. Works as a charm =) One thing you must keep in mind is that you have to release the rubberbands everytime you dont use the stick because the will stretch and dry out. They will loose their elasticity but it just takes a couple of sec to put them on or off. Take a look at the pic. /Christian

Pilotasso Posted May 3, 2007 Posted May 3, 2007 Heres a simple way to do it: http://forum.lockon.ru/showthread.php?t=21199&page=2&highlight=improve maybe it is slightly less stiff but much more practical and without impact on aestetics. Heres another MOD I came up with: http://forum.lockon.ru/showthread.php?t=21199&highlight=improve .
3Sqn_Sven Posted May 3, 2007 Posted May 3, 2007 FYI The 52 Pro feels exaclty the same as the 52 WRT springs. I tried them both out next to each other last week, there has been no change in the spring tension department. 3Sqn - Largest distributor of Flanker, Fulcrum and Frogfoot parts in the Black Sea Region
