tflash Posted May 3, 2007 Posted May 3, 2007 I wonder whether A-10A avionics allow it to store and display waypoints on the HUD? Now, we have the small diamond box on a pre-planned target, as if it were painted by a ground FAC laser. The diamond could also be used to display the next waypoint though. There is clearly an ICP on the right hand panel, where you can enter data, below a display. I guess you can type in coordinates there, and suppose there should be a waypoint marker then appearing on the HUD? (As you might have guessed, I'm just comparing to the way it is on the F4:AF Falcons). [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
Aeroscout Posted May 3, 2007 Posted May 3, 2007 They are different aircraft, so they have different HUDs. that's not to say I believe lockon's A-10 HUD is entirely accurate. I'v compared it to a few examples in a few books I have and foud it to be quite different. So, what were they like in the book, actually, it seemed alot les sophisticated than the one in lomac, so i'd say, be happy with what you have. tflash Posted May 3, 2007 Author Posted May 3, 2007 Oh, don't get me wrong: I'm very happy with what we have in Lockon; just interested in how it is IRL. In the movies with pilot interviews that were posted her some days ago, the pilots clearly talk about many avionics and navigation upgrades to the aircraft. In on of the descriptions someone talks about entering coordinates into the nav system. My guess would be navigation is quite standardised on USAF aircraft, but of course A-10A is clearly older generation. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
Aeroscout Posted May 3, 2007 Posted May 3, 2007 Ok, I didn't answer that. In lockon, you cannot manually enter waypts. (this will be avalable in the Ka-50 when/if BS comes out) You only have the ones interes into the nav computer that you had in the mission editor. It's possible that this may be added to the A-10 in BS, bit I doubt it. ED really doesn't care about american aircraft. Heh, then it is true for russian aircrafts as well. We do not touch aircrafts of both sides. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] К чему стадам дары свободы? Их должно резать или стричь. tflash Posted July 31, 2010 Author Posted July 31, 2010 Is there any news on this topic? In F-16 and Hornet, the "caret" is a waypoint marker that gives you a reference point on the HUD to fly to. By setting a target's coordinates as an opportunity waypoint, you can fly into the target, which comes very very handy indeed while manoevring and making several passes. In Lockon, The caret is a target marker the appearance of which is related to the target zone settings in the mission editor. It is more as if some JTAC has painted the target with a laser for you, and that your laser spot tracker catches it. How is this all implemented in A-10C? [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
rattler Posted July 31, 2010 Posted July 31, 2010 (edited) Well as much as a lot of people would like to see more different a/c, not just U.S. , ED is a Russian based company so it would be logical to have a larger representation from that Country. Easy of getting proper info on a/c etc. Would be nice to see a better variety all the same. I can also see not modeling an a/c due to lack of proper info which may well be the case with other than Russian a/c. Maybe this is why some HUD information is not shown correctly. They get the benefit of the doubt, from me anyway.:) Pete Edited July 31, 2010 by rattler
