Robert31178 Posted July 24, 2018 Posted July 24, 2018 We have these. I've seen OHP class on our server. Might be a mod, I can't recall, but it's for sure there.
Robert31178 Posted July 24, 2018 Posted July 24, 2018 In fact, the very next thread I got into was this one lol..... https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=216025 You're welcome!!! ~Rob
Furia Posted July 24, 2018 Posted July 24, 2018 OHP FFG-7 is a default ship in DCS World since the begining and extremely well detailled. [sIGPIC]http://menorca.infotelecom.es/~raulurbina/ESA/banner_furia.png[/sIGPIC]
Northstar98 Posted July 25, 2018 Posted July 25, 2018 (edited) The OHP is already in DCS, I guess it could do with a bit of a facelift (looking at you Phalanx CIWS), it is getting old a bit. In the mission editor is called the FFG-7CL USS Oliver Hazard Perry (though in DCS it actually appears as FFG-46 USS Rentz which is actually a lengthened OHP, as Oliver Hazard Perry is a short one afaik). To be honest the water environment could do with an upgrade. mytai01 Posted July 25, 2018 Author Posted July 25, 2018 My point is that they could model the missiles being loaded the real way instead of magically appearing on the rail. They could launch Harpoon missiles as well as SM2 from the rail. They could show chaff and smoke too. There is more that could be done to make ships more interesting in DCS... Yeah like I said the whole thing needs an upgrade - ships don't even 'react' to waves, the rolling and pitching motion seems entirely random, it just increases magnitude with the wind. In the model viewer the hatch is actually animated for the Mk13 launcher, but when in DCS it doesn't function, the missiles don't spawn from a magazine and get hoisted up as per the video, they just spawn on the rail. A similar system is employed on the Slava class and Krivak class with the SA-N-4 system (ZiF-122 launcher) but here the launcher pops-up (I'm not sure if the launcher has to retract to reload, or if below-deck loading happens with the launcher extended). It would be cool to see if a bit low priority. The same exact system also applies to the RBU-6000 ASW rocket launcher, which is present on the Grisha, Krivak II and Slava class also employ below deck loading (here the process in reverse ). All in all the sea aspect of DCS really needs some major love. IIRC the Zif-122 launcher pops back down into the bin for re-loading. An even more similar system(to the MK-13) is the Uragan(aka Shtil) onboard Pr. 956 destroyers....but ok that type is not in the sim(big fail!). It would be cool to see if a bit low priority. The same exact system also applies to the RBU-6000 ASW rocket launcher, which is present on the Grisha, Krivak II and Slava class also employ below deck loading (here the process in reverse ). It applies to a lot of systems - RBU-1000, Kt-153(Udav-1) ASW launchers, PK-2 countermeasure launcher and Kortik/Kashtan AD combat modules to name some. All in all the sea aspect of DCS really needs some major love. Indeed! :) JJ
