Hi,

the last update (today) just broke my controls (CH Fighterstick + TM Throttle), it looks as though they're all bound but the game just doesn't recognise. Either some work and some don't, looks like all mouse bindings have gone as well :(.

I've tried to clear category and re-assign but even though the menu recognises button press, in-game nothing happens.

any help please :)

Having the same issue, but only with a few. Mostly unimportant stuff like oh... GUN FIRE. Can bind it, DCS clearly detects it... simply doesn't work in-game.

This is after applying the cb13 fix described elsewhere to get my bindings back but as said, I can clear out the binding and reset it and nothing changes.

Update: still no luck on making this work. Selective malfunction. Sensor mode hat, weapon selector, cage/uncage all work perfectly fine on the exact same device. DCS detects trigger stage 2 in binding screen. Weapon will not launch. Master arm on, A/A mode on, SHOOT cue on HUD. Have not yet tried A/G weapons (of course that's a different button).

Im using X55, and throttle bindings are there, but they are all gone for the stick...

What gives? Is it just temp. bug, or do i need to again rebind everything?

Because if it is second option i will put this module on "shelf " until it is completed, no way im gonna go and rebind everything after each update. I know this is "early access" but there is no excuses for erasing my bindings!

It's happened to me also, it's explained here:https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=216399

So it is as i was afraid... :(

However, thx for pointing it out.

Well F-18 is grounded in that case until they develop it more or god forbid finish it - i really dont want to rebind my controls after every hickup they have.

Really? I mean, how long does it take to rebind? 5 minutes?

It's not a hiccup, it's part of the development of the EA version. We are still in the pretty early phase of Early Access. Things WILL change.

Im sorry but wasting even 5 secs is too much waste when it is not my mistake, it is a matter of attitude, not time. Those files are in USER folder, separated with reason from DCS content.

Why devs had urge to mess with them is beyond me.

If it is not hickup then i dont know how to call it - intentional trolling? I dont want to go down that path. Until they get their act and stop messing with my personal files i will keep their module uninstalled and that is that.

It is safest for me and easiest way for them: I wont be wasting my time resolving their mistakes and they ill be free to fiddle with whatever they wish until they figure out how to do it right.

Not everything is implemented yet, so new keybinds will be added as things are developed.

I’m sorry, but you are complaining because Early Access software is just that? That is what you purchased and agreed to. If you don’t want to follow the software through its journey towards public release in the future and help the devs with bug reports, then leaving it alone is definitely the best policy for you.

Im kinds sick of developers hiding behind early access...

You took my money, therefore i expect usable product, not a mess which wastes my time or even worse is completely unusable.

60$ for broken module is simply too much. That is why it goes on shelf until it is in usable shape.

Messing with user files is just icing on cake of wrong things with this aircraft.

You knowingly paid for an Early Access version of a module and paid a discounted price. That was your choice.

The Hornet is neither a mess nor unusable. It is in development with further improvements and features to be added in the next few months.

@imacken,

Key-binding and controller setup is not a new feature. It's a basic thing to have, working right out of the box, early access or not. That a certain radar mode is not working i can live with but key-binding is another story. That's the games basic we're talking about. If that doesn't work properly, they can implement whatever nice feature, if you can not control it it's pretty useless, Early Access or not.

You can't imagine how much time i've spend remapping keys and setting up bindings again in DCS over the last 8 years. I can feel the pain of the guys that complain about this. Early access is a lame excuse for such a thing as key binding. These things should be working right out of the box, early access or not. This game DCS is in development since way before A-10C was released and that was in 2010. Yes, you read it right, 2010. That's 8 years ago.

There's no excuse that key bindings don't work or get messed up anymore after this time. Not even on a new module!! Period.

To give an example: Today i've spend "again" over 3 hours (yeah, you did read it right) to find out how to activate the Master_Mode_Buttons for AA and AG modes through my Cougar.

Since these are originaly mapped on the top number row on a QWERTY keyboard (1 and 2) these can be a bit of a pain in the ass for me since i'm using an AZERTY keyboard and when i press these keys, they don't generate 1 and 2 but & and é instead.

However, the é key is not recognised by Foxy as a real key although when processed through Windows it generates an é. So for some keys i need to re-bind them in order for things to work. Smart as they are over at Thrustmaster, the have a command named USE KEYBOARD where i can tell the Cougar i'm using an AZERTY keyboard and that it should generate the correct keys accordingly. But... that leaves other keys not working like the [ and the ] and they are also used within DCS modules.

So binding and setting up controllers and keyboards is always a nice bit of work and then even i can't get things not always 100% working, but i can live with that.

But...

Today, like said above i, i wanted to program the Master_Mode_Buttons to my Cougar's Throttle buttons T7 and T8. This didn't work.

Going through the entire QWERTY-AZERTY thing in Foxy didn't bring a solution either so in the end i started to play around with some bindings only to find out that in the controller setup within the game they respond fine to the programmed button presses, they jumps straight to the correct binding when pressed in the controller setup but in-game they do nothing. Only the keyboard works there.

I found this out after about 3 hours where in a decent developed game i could have been playing (flying) and having fun instead of scratching my head and get frustrated in the end only to find out that it ain't working on their side.

If i sign in or pay for Early Access i don't mind bugs but not things like key bindings. Key bindings are part of the game basics, if they don't work properly it shouldn't have been released in Early Access. Key binding is key binding, A-10C or F/A-18 makes no difference. These things should be routine by now to get working after more then 8 years in development (key binding that is, not the F/A-18 as a module).

Hell, even Tesla is doing a better job these days.

The one thing that i truly HATE in DCS is the controller and key-binding bullshit every new module brings. Even so much that i have bought modules for which i didn't even find to time to set them up and never even flew them.

And this brings me to another thing. I used to buy modules for DCS in order to support the entire development. Well, i stopped to do so, not because they are no good but because i don't have the time to be messin' with controller and key-binding. I might be missing a nice module but they are missing my money. Guess what's more important?

I feel your pain, but in my experience, I have only ever any problems with losing binding with the Hornet (once because of development changes) and whenever I reinstall Windows. Even then, it's a case of loading in my old profile in Settings>controls.

In the case of the Hornet, it took me about 5 minutes to rebind my HOTAS. In my opinion, well worth the effort, but clearly you feel differently and that is fine.

Wow. Took you guys longer to write all this, than it took me to rebind the HOTAS category, which was the only bit missing. 2-3 minutes tops, just going from top to bottom, even knowing exactly what you have where, cause you have already used them.

Some just want to complain, and the ones who give EA bad reviews. Unlike the rest of us who understand what we are dealing with and just roll with it.
