My computer is a AMD 3200 CPU,

AIT X800 128MB video card and 2G RAM.

But I still can not run lock on in the max graghic set.

Can any one tell me how good the computer should be in order to play it in the max set?

If you mean a computer that runs at 50+ FPS at following conditions:

( no graphic tweaks )

1. Vis Range at max.

2. mirrors on max

3. water on max

4. Heatblur, traffic, on

5. All other settings on max

max AAF, Max AA at ..... lets say at 1280X1024 on a 19" screen.

Flying low over a large city with lots of missile launches, other planes and Explotions all around:

Then im afraid that you still have to wait a few years :(

Well ... Lets wait and see ..... I still have my doubts :music_whistling:

I'm with CountryCowfreak on this one...low frame rate due to large number of objects you get over a city is not resolution related so today there is no such CPU (hence PC) that can run LockOn on these settings.

CPU efficiency would have to be about 5x or 6x of current Core2 Duo's to be able to run it like that (50fps even over a city). If LockOn ever becomes multi CPU friendy... that's another story. 4 core next generation CPU woud be able to do that :D

Not 50fps, no. But with flight sims I find minimum frame rate is *far* more important than maximum, and anything over about 20fps is fine for me. It's the dips towards 10 or less which ruin the immersion, and my recent move to an overclocked E6600 has finally allowed me to fly over large cities at maximum viewing distance at 20+FPS. It's very impressive indeed, and even cluster bombs and rocket attacks fail to bring my PC to its knees any more*.

Towards the end of July Intel will apparently have some significant price cuts. Combine that with the current low price of DDR2 RAM and it'll be a great time to upgrade to any of the 4Mb cache C2D CPUs.

*I do still get dips, it's not perfect. But this upgrade really has lifted LOMAC into a different performance league.

run a specific missions and/or setion, reference that part... give your FPS min/max/avg.

example:

in the A10 isntant mission, on the menu when you click on it and start in the air over ground targets... maybe we can use that. Maybe run Fraps and copy the FPS numbers. Maybe run that mission for 2 minutes, from the start count 2 minutes, take the numbers Fraps reports. You can use the free Fraps version.

Just an idea to see what our FPS numbers are.

if you want to do this with a water based mission:

we can do the one witht he SU33 where the mission begins approaching the ships and a carrier...

This mission is also on the menu when you fire up the game, you can click on the picture of that mission. Take the FPS for 2 mins, as above, using Fraps.

thses will give baseline FPS Numbers.

I personally have no problems, but if you guys want to compare FPS.

Setup :

1)Using LockOn: Flaming Cliffs.

2)Fraps (Yahoo or Google it, I don't have a link handy right now.)

3)setall settings on Max ! (we al must use same settings or this wil be worthless)

Andrew, like I said before... CPU's would need to be about 5x/6x more efficient then current fastest Core 2 Duo's in order to run LockOn with good framerate in all situatuation (ie flying over the city). Ramstein's P4 does about 1/2 of what current Core 2 Duo can do... and he get's minimum frame rate in range from 5-7 FPS. For proper frame rate (have a nice game play) you would need to target 30FPS as stable minimum... 20FPS is still not quite sufficient. Yes it's quite playable but not for a nice smooth game play. And by the way I never referred to high or average frame rate... I don't care if I can get 300FPS looking into a sky. When it gets into fast paced action and close range encounter... FPS matters a lot. Target designator scrolling speed is directly related to frame rate... if the frame rate is at a crawl so will be the speed of the target designator, and I absolutely hate that.

I could easily bumb my 3.2 p4 up with overclocking to 3.6 or higher. My video card is very fast and 512 MB Radon X1950.. The game runs great, the fps numbers to not reflect how wel it runs with al settings maxed out.

I had P4 3.4 and it wasn't all that great for LockOn and I say this because we are talking here highest graphics settings and object density and distance.. then there's mirrors... water on Very High, shadows... Full AA and AF... then there's full overcast... the list goes on... gees you find me a CPU that can run these settings with 30FPS min???

We had once a nice discussion and included actual testing... and anyone that said he could run LockOn with 30FPS min... with these settings... was way off.

If it can run at 10FPS... that still means 3x faster CPU to run 30FPS. So no matter how much you overclock it is still way short of achievement.

Now I am not saying I run LockOn on shitty settings and have bad frame rate, cause I don't. But still even on C2D at 3GHz it's just not enough. I use 4xAA and AF but I don't use mirrors and I can't use 10Km distance for objects... wanna know why? Because then the game becomes UNPLAYABLE!

You try and have an engagement near Krasnodar bases... it becomes a slide show.

People are way too "advertising" their systems... numbers doen't lie... opinions do.

You know what else you can do instead of posting just one value for Min frame rate (which is 5-7 by the way on your system, on what ever setting you were runing it) which doesn't give any indication how much and for how long the frame rate is actually high or low... why don't you use the full values for each frame time create a graph then post it here... let's see how many times and for how long it goes under 20FPS (which I think you find very playable)?

Oh and, don't why over the water... fly over Krasnodar or Simferopol.. in an Su-25T... and please have at least 1 wingmen with you... then fire a few rockets... then please tell me your frame rate.
