BlacleyCole Posted August 31, 2018 Posted August 31, 2018 I was hoping to get the vkb gunfighter base and a mcg pro and use my current thrustmaster extensions as they work out at the perfect height. But then I relised that. It will not work because of the different mounting forgot you had to mod tm grip for vkb bases. Does anyone. Make straight extensions that work for vkb bases and grips? I have my tm warthog setup to work perfectly but I like the gimbal setup of the vkb and wouldn’t mind the mcg pro additional buttons. I want the largebase plate for stability and mobility. I’m thinking of getting the new tm pedals and a maxflight huey collective and these will be my traveling kit. Or I may switch out my puma with these and take the puma on the road. But unless I can get the extensions to raise it up to the correct height it took two of the tm extensions to raise the grip. To the correct position. Any suggestions? BlackeyCole 20years usaf XP-11. Mars Exulte Posted September 2, 2018 Posted September 2, 2018 (edited) Not sure what you're wanting to do exactly, but there is no avoiding using an adapter if you're trying to mix and match TM and VKB. If you want more plug and play compatibility, use Virpil instead as I believe their connectors are the same as TM's. They also use straight extensions. Also, an MCG Pro will not work except on one of the VKB bases. If you mod it for a Warthog it loses the extra buttons and axises because the TM base and grip do not support them. Modifying it to use the Warthog extension's would probably result in the same thing. The only extension made for VKB at present is their own curved extension. If I understand correctly, you're going to have to do some home DiY modifications to do what you want. dburne Posted September 2, 2018 Posted September 2, 2018 I am not sure VKB or Virpil gimbal would hold up very well to an extension as long as he is talking about. I know on the VKB you would also have to find some really strong springs somewhere for an extension that long... Sokol1_br Posted September 2, 2018 Posted September 2, 2018 (edited) "B plan": Buy VKB 20cm "S" extension (and suitable VKB base/grip or adapter for Warthog grip), disassemble then - just need loose 3 bolts that fit tube in connectors* and cut the internal 3 wires and discard the "S" tube. https://ae01.alicdn.com/kf/HTB1feuyB7yWBuNjy0Fpq6yssXXaT/VKBSIM-MKII.jpg Get a aluminum tube that meed your length needs and OD match VKB connectors ID, extend the 3 wires to match the new tube length, fit the connector ends and "voila" floor mount stick - keep your knees/legs out of the way. :) Of course this will void warranty.
