Charlie-1 Posted September 2, 2018 Posted September 2, 2018 As the title suggests.. so much smoother with Bokeh on! :) Intel Core i3 8350K 4GHz, MSI RTX 2080 Super, AS Rock Z370 Pro4 Motherboard, Samsung SSD, 32G DDR4 RAM, Windows 10 PRO 64 Bit Rift-S, Tripple Samsung 27" C27F Display, Hotas Warthog, Saitek Pro Flight rudder pedals, EDtracker, Track IR.
Donut Posted September 2, 2018 Posted September 2, 2018 Interesting, I may try this although I don't really notice too much in the way of jagged edges but they are there even with MSAA 4x. Is this effect just for external views or does it work internally as well. Any performance hit? i5 7600K @4.8GHz | 1080 Ti | 32GB 3200MHz | SSD | DCS SETTINGS | "COCKPIT"

Wolf8312 Posted September 2, 2018 Posted September 2, 2018 (edited) Sorry Bokeh? What is that? Is it just depth of field? Edit- NM found it checking it out, anyone know what it actually means? drack Posted September 2, 2018 Posted September 2, 2018 Sorry if I seem dumb but..... what is 'Bokeh'? Are we talking about 'depth of field' drop menu in the option's? Would like to try this tonight. Many thanks.
toutenglisse Posted September 2, 2018 Posted September 2, 2018 It only works in external view. It's a focus on the F2 central object, rest is blurry. Big perf hit in F2 view.
Charlie-1 Posted September 2, 2018 Author Posted September 2, 2018 It's in the left hand column in the main options menu under Depth of field.. . Bokeh basically means to send the distance out of focus.. Slight blur, as in real life you wouldn't focus on the cockpit and terrain at the same time. I found it works in F1 view and it helps appearance without an FPS hit. I think it does have an FPS impact in F2 view though. drack Posted September 3, 2018 Posted September 3, 2018 Thanks Nake350, I tried it last night and no real difference for me. If anything slightly lowered performance in VR. But hey, worth a try man......Thanks
Charlie-1 Posted September 3, 2018 Author Posted September 3, 2018 I agree... I didn't think it does anything for VR either. Its monitor use I've seen a big improvement. Talonx1 Posted September 4, 2018 Posted September 4, 2018 Didnt this used to only work in external views? I dont recall it doing anything in cockpit.
Goa Posted September 5, 2018 Posted September 5, 2018 its only for cinematic use for external use only, it doesnt affect 1st person view...
