hideki2 Posted September 11, 2018 Posted September 11, 2018 Hej Devs! Could we get back the fake sky reflection in the mirrors when they are disabled? Like the one we had a year ago? The black mirrors are really an eyesore and brake immersion a bit.
Truthkeeper Posted September 11, 2018 Posted September 11, 2018 True enough sadly... Unfortunately I am sometimes obliged to turn mirrors off because of low fps in multiplayer: this way I can gain 10-15 fps...
Vannipo Posted September 13, 2018 Posted September 13, 2018 +1. Performance with mirrors turned on is really bad in VR. Sadly. Without, all smooth. I dont like black wholes in my cockpit too. There are some nice looking mirrors in the Viggen I have installed in the 2.5.0.
Vannipo Posted September 13, 2018 Posted September 13, 2018 There is a workaround to get some color in the mirrors: Enter a mission, with mirrors turned on in options. Find a nice angle for a nice mirror reflection. Quit the mission. Restart the mission with mirrors turned off in options. And there u have the last frozen picture of the mirror reflection remaining there. Better than black, for me.
corvinus Posted September 13, 2018 Posted September 13, 2018 Isn't it possible to mechanically fold the mirrors into an off position? That would make it look good and it would be more realistic. Sadly I have to disable mirrors for performance reasons, so having the ability to fold away the mirrors would really appeal to me.
Vannipo Posted September 13, 2018 Posted September 13, 2018 That looks better, if U don't use mirrors, cause of FPS:

Vannipo Posted September 18, 2018 Posted September 18, 2018 Better way to get a picture in the Viggens mirrors (and maybe all other planes wirth low FPS mirrors): Enable mirrors in options. Toggle Mirrors Off in cockpit with a hotkey. Now u have a freezed image of the reflection (or just rotated mirrors), as you turned it off and high fps.

You just can't tell me this is impossible two decades later with 1-2000 times the video memory availabe.

Because in the game whichever direction you are looking at, there is actually nothing behind you. Things have to be separately rendered for mirrors. And having a realistic mirrors is an entirely different ball park. Playing in VR i have so far experienced only one game where mirrors act like real mirrors and that game is Live For Speed.
TOViper Posted October 14, 2018 Posted October 14, 2018 current implementation still weak I have to bring this on the table again. Latest update, and this happened today. I was flying Su-27 using mirrors (despite they were set to OFF in the DCS settings). Then I started another mission using AJS-37: Even after turning Mirrors ON in the DCS settings and restart of Viggen mission, they weren't working. I wish the implementation in the Viggen worked as good as in the Su-27. Press M ... away. Press M again ... here. Press M again ... away. Press M again ... here. ... ...
